X-Men Comic Book Values

Stolen Comic Books

In Florida, recently, a man’s rare and valuable collection of comics was stolen. He estimated that his collection is valued at more than $10,000. He took a lot of pride in his collection. He had each comic stored in a clear protective sleeve and stored in acid free cardboard boxes to protect the integrity and value of each one, the proper way of storing them. I learned of this comic book theft after reading an online article from the St. Petersburg Times titled "Prized comic book collection, worth $12,000, is stolen" (www.tampabay.com). Staff writer Erin Sullivan reported on the stolen comics.

Peter Keenan discovered that his comic collection had been stolen the day after his birthday. He was going to his favorite local comic book shop to buy some new comics. While he was browsing through the shop he saw a lot of comics that were in his own collection. He knew that they must be part of his collection because he had cards taped to the inside of the clear protective sleeves the comics were in that were still in place at the shop. He stored his collection at his ex-girlfriend’s home who lived down the street from him. He called her and asked her to check the closet where the books were kept, and she confirmed that they were gone. The Pasco sheriff’s department told the St. Petersburg Times that 1,500 comics had been stolen.

After the police investigation took place, it was discovered that friends of the ex-girlfriend sold parts of the comic collection to the shop. Of course there are different stories from all parties involved. For example, the man who stole the comics said he had permission to sell them. Another man accused of stealing and selling them said he was paid to do it. Only one of the men has been arrested under theft charges. People are also questioning why Peter Keenan kept the collection at his ex-girlfriend’s home and not his own.  It is still unknown how many comics were stolen because there wasn’t a clear record count of how many there were to start within the collection. Unfortunately, some of the books won’t be returned because the shop owner had already sold a few of them.

Peter Keenan had his comic books stored properly but unfortunately they were unprotected from thieves. He is hoping that he will get most of his collection back. Lessons sometimes have to be learned the hard way, and in this case it’s to store your comics at your own home.

Insuring your Valuable Collectibles

The collectibles markets are full of passionate people. These aren’t people who have ‘pack rat fever’ and save items just to have them, but people who decide to enter a specific collectibles market because it is a rewarding and fun experience for them. And it seems people will collect just about anything including: teddy bears, coins, stamps, advertising memorabilia, books, comic books, sports memorabilia, vinyl records.…..why the list seems endless. But they all have one thing in common, a passion for their hobby and their specific collectible.

But what if something unforeseen happens, a fire or some other catastrophe? A unique insurance agency called Collectibles Insurance Services; LLC is here to offer peace of mind and, most importantly, insurance for their collectibles.

I spoke with Dan Walker and Debbie Spilman of Collectibles Insurance Services, LLC, about collecting and why it is important to have insurance on your treasured collectibles.

“Some may think that they’re homeowners insurance policy covers their collectibles, but in most cases your homeowners policy is designed to cover personal property and is not nearly enough to protect your treasured collectibles,” said Dan. “They may limit the collection to a percentage of the total value of your home, limit the amount that they will pay for theft of valuable items like silver, crystal, guns, stamps and paper documents or be based on actual cash value rather than the collectible or replacement value.”

Collectibles Insurance Services (www.collectinsure.com) differs from the average homeowners’ insurance policy, in that, insuring collectibles is all they do. The service can insure a collection of stamps, advertising memorabilia, sports cards, vinyl records, antique tools, vintage clothing, trains, toys, weapons (guns, knives swords), entertainment memorabilia and much more (see the website for a complete list and exclusions of what they insure).

“Normal homeowners policies don’t generally deal with collectibles, we write policies specifically for a person’s collectibles, whether it is a rare book collection, stamps, coins, sports cards, vinyl records and the many other collectibles that we deal with every day” explained Dan.

Valuation of a collection is subjective and estimating what a certain collection is worth depends on many variables and researching different avenues.

“We strongly encourage prospects from overvaluing their collections. We cannot insure ‘emotional worth’, but can insure a varying array of collectibles. We ask that people have a paper trail, save receipts for what they may have paid for items; documentation is very helpful, take video of the collection or pictures. Validation is an important element. Don’t over insure and if necessary get a second opinion,” detailed Debbie.

How does one go about ascertaining the value of a collection or their collectibles?

“Price guides are great, but they are just one of the tools used when trying to gauge a value of a collection,” explained Dan. “Replacement value would be what a knowledgeable buyer would pay a knowledgeable seller for the items, it is an agreed upon price between two knowledgeable individuals in a sales transaction. You must price your collectibles realistically for insurance purposes.”

“The valuation process could also be aided by a professional appraisal (although that is not always necessary), professional consensus, price guide values, what the collectibles may be selling for on the market at the specific time, our own resources and expertise and because no two collections are the same, all these factors are available in helping people determine what the value is. We also have a number of resources on file and references listed on the website including valuation aides, inventory aides and dealers to help people along so they can put a figure on the collections worth in which to write a policy” said Dan.

What kind of resources that are used in the valuation process depends on the items in the collection, as Debbie explains:

“We provide reference to many entities in the process including obtaining information from the Kovels.com, American Stamp Dealers Association, Price Miner, Antique Trader, Beckett.com, CBGXtra.com (for comic book collections), collect.com, Goldmine publications, Military Trader, trains.com and a number of other resources, depending on the genre of the collectible.”

I inquired about insurance when you are moving the items, from whether down the street or across the country; doesn’t the moving company provide insurance for that?

“Submitting a claim to them is much more difficult to do, as the moving companies would require much more documentation to validate a claim if there were breakage or something else were to happen,” explained Debbie. “Again, validating just how much the collectibles are worth is a key element in settling a claim.”

A myth with regard to collectibles insurance is that every item in the collection must be itemized and professionally appraised.

“No appraisals are necessary. You estimate the value of your collection and determine the amount of insurance, we need a ballpark figure,” detailed Dan. “Although an inventory is not always required at the time of application to purchase insurance, Collectibles Insurance Services strongly recommends its customers maintain an inventory to streamline, provide proof, and expedite claims in the event of a loss.”

Another myth regarding insuring collectibles is that the cost would be more than people could reasonably afford.

“A collectibles policy is typically less costly than scheduling items on your homeowners insurance,” said Dan. “The price of insurance should not deter a person from insuring their collections, the items are priceless to the hobbyist or collector and you will find our rates are not overbearing and are cost-efficient. We cover everything from autographs to Zippos or something in between. And Collectibles Insurance Services’ carriers are A rated and above.”

It is reassuring to know that purchasing insurance for your collection is not as difficult as one might think it to be. The process is not such a daunting task as it seems and it is also reassuring to know that there are professionals specifically trained in this field and a company that specializes in just this type of insurance.

Become a Comic Book Artist

King of Pop Comic Book

Michael Jackson, also known as the king of pop, died on June 25, 2009. It was shocking news heard worldwide due to his international success as a music artist. His legacy will live on forever every time his songs like Thriller, Beat It, Smooth Criminal, and Heal the World are played and his music videos are shown that feature his signature dance moves like the moon walk. Not only will he live on through the music, but he will also be remembered in comics. His many talents such as singer-songwriter, musical arranger, record producer, choreographer, dancer, actor, businessman, and author are worthy of fame and recognition. There have also been other tributes on music channels, concerts, and near his home in Los Angeles.

The comic books industry is showing tribute to Michal Jackson by releasing a comic by Bluewater Productions called, Tribute: Michael Jackson, King of Pop. The comic is planned to be released sometime in October. The comic will be a biography of his life, similar to other Bluewater Productions biography comics like the Female Force series. The comic will feature a wrap around cover and a foreword by Giuseppe Mazzola who is part of The Official Michael Jackson Fan Club. It is a limited special edition book. This tribute is so appropriate for him because Michael Jackson loved comic books. He collected comics and read them. According to an article written by Josh Wigler for an MTV blog, Jackson almost purchased Marvel Comics in the early 1990s.

Michael Jackson’s career started when he was born the seventh child and lead singer of the Jackson 5. Their hits were popular in the Motown ere when Jackson was just a kid. In his teen years he began a solo career that proved to be a huge success. One of the world’s bestselling albums was released in the early 1980s by Jackson called Thriller, and he received the title king of pop. As an artist, he has won so many awards and recognitions. He’s been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame twice, received 13 Grammy Awards, and can be found in the Guinness Book of World Records under the category most successful entertainer of all time. The fame and fortune made him a very charitable person. He raised millions of dollars for charities during his lifetime. He supported his own charity, Heal the World Foundation, and also raised money for other people’s charities. His accomplishments haven’t gone unnoticed and will be tastefully displayed in a comic.

comic book heroes?

my cousin wants to become a comic book artist but can't think of any different super powers that are out there. he does not want to use the same old powers such as flying or super strength. can you think of any unusual but good powers for him to use.

I once asked here about new powers that no super hero had ever used before, and nobody was actually able to come up with a brand new one. You have to think of using old powers in new ways.

There are several ways in which you can make a hero unique. One is by giving him unique strengths and weaknesses. Why is he only super strong with his left hand...? Why do brussesl sprouts take away his powers...?

I don't know, that's part of your work as the writer to come up with a good origin.

Another thing you can do is to specialize. Try a character with all kinds of extra senses, but no combat abilities. He would have to work with a team to be effective, but he could be very valuable,. He could detect the bad guy's secret weakness, or the power pack in his doomsday device, but it would be up to the other heroes toput it out of commission.

Try a hero that learns everything. He has telepathy and hes constantly reading everybodys mind (but he can't send thought, only read them) He has a perfect photographic or eidetic memory and can learn instantly, He reads the mind of a surgeon, he knows how to perform surgery (but he's not licensed as a doctor) By collecting a lot of skills, he could save many lives on various occasions.

There are physical limitations, psychological limitations, all sorts of things your character can have. How did he get his powers, why did he decide to become a superhero instead of a major league baseball pitcher (say) if he can throw a 500 mph fastball?

Is he invisible all the time...? (that would be easy to draw!) Is he huge or shrunk a lot of the time? Some people like drawing from those perspectives.

Is he really a hero or is he just one of those anti heroes...? If he really gets off on his super strength and constantly looks for bad guys just so he can beat them up, maybe he should be called Anger-Management Man...!

Does he always have the same powers or does he switch every so often? Does he copy or borrow powers from others around him? Does he HAVE TO use one power together with another one, or in a certain sequence, for them to work at all?

These are all just ideas. If you can, get a hold of the rules book for Champions, the super hero role playing game. It has a whole character generation process in there, complete with a lot of the things I have mentioned and more. It is well worth reading just for ideas.

Comic Book Resources Guide

7 Keys To Fulfill Your Wildest Dreams

What are your wildest dreams? How would you feel if your
deepest hopes and wishes came true?

True abundance goes far beyond the art of sourcing money. We
usually consider abundance to be material wealth. Yes, but it
also means emotional well-being and spiritual fulfillment. And
the ability to fully experience—and share—love and joy.
True fortune is the art of knowing how to live.

The Latin root of “prosperity” means “to make happy,
favorable, successful, fortunate, thriving. Prosperity is not
an outer circumstance or state. Prosperity is an inner feeling
or space—an experience of oneself as joyful and flourishing.
Outer events are the reflections of how you have been flowing
from your Source Energy. This is what a good creator
does—flow energy.

You can attract prosperity with your personal magnetism. True
prosperity is having what you choose to have as you choose to
have it. As you focus your attention on your dreams, the Law
of Attraction brings your desires to you automatically.

Here are a few effective, pragmatic keys to tap into the
River of Joy and Plenty:

1. Get Good at Receiving!

You know the joy you get by giving to people. By not
receiving generously, you’re denying other people the
pleasure of giving to you! Practice receiving gifts and
pleasures, big and small.

Prosperity Begets Prosperity. Prosperity defies the laws of
economics in that it’s not a commodity that we have less of
when we give some away. Prosperity grows greater for the giver
as it’s given. The more you share, the more you end up
receiving. Give and you shall attract. Nature abhors a vacuum!

Make room for miracles. Create the attitude and conditions
that make receiving miracles more likely to occur. Invite
surprise. Welcome serendipity. Be open to unexpected sources
of income, resources and support—especially those that
don’t “make sense” to the intellect with its limited
range of possibilities. Approach life as if the whole of
creation is conspiring to bring you goodness … because it
is!

2. Find the Real You!

Get in sync with the real you. Go with it and never look
back! Attract your dreams with your personal magnetism—your
personal bliss. Working in a career that doesn't fit right is
exhausting and stressful. You're less efficient, less
productive, less prosperous. Choose a livelihood that evokes
excitement and enthusiasm and this natural electro-magnetic
energy will attract magic, meaning and money into your world.

Align your personality with true spirit. When you’re
aligned with your true intentions in being here this lifetime,
good fortune will unfold in a profoundly easy, delightful and
bountiful ways.

Answer your life’s calling. As you commit to your calling,
the resulting vibration of happiness opens the floodgates to
profuse support from the Universe. What is your true calling,
your real vocation? What is the business of your soul this
lifetime on Earth?

What would happen if you knew and followed your calling, your
passion, your fun? What actions could you take today that
would bring your life more in accord with your life calling
and joy? What aspect of life is calling to you right now?

3. Play at Life!

Why does the money run out? Why doesn't passion stay around?
Why doesn’t health last?
Perhaps because you’re not playing!

Instead, you’re analyzing and strategizing. By not being
innocent, open, willing, spontaneous and flexible, you kill
the magic of natural prosperity.

Life works out best when played like a kid’s game—in the
spirit of a fun adventure between two best friends. When
approached lightly—not as a deadly serious contest—life
actually responds more readily to our wishes. In fact, the
happiest outcomes occur when we play along with the
fluctuations of life—instead of fighting them.

Make room for fun. Humor and laughter activate energy flow,
which, in turn, generates abundance. You have to possess the
qualities you value in order to share them with others. If
you’re not willing to give yourself happiness, how can you
help others find happiness?

How do angels fly? They take themselves lightly. Certainly
there are times when life presents major challenges that call
for clear and direct action. But being responsible and
efficient does not preclude humor and light-heartedness.

In fact, a flexible, fluid, upbeat approach and attitude is
crucial to releasing magic and miracles into the any life
challenge. Inspiration and breakthrough are often born from
the spirit of playfulness and exuberance.

In one study, 75 percent of the people who watched a funny
movie were able to solve a problem, as opposed to 13 percent
of the people who hadn't watched the funny movie. When we’re
feeling good, we naturally attract other answers, assistance,
resources and people to us.

Laugh. Like vibration seeds like vibration. A really good,
deep laugh moves your energy into a place of attraction. Use
belly laughs to attract a belly-fulls of money. When you are
playing with children, watching a funny movie, horsing around
with your friends, chuckling at a joke, you’re funding your
dreams. Find a fresh aspect of your life to laugh about every
day.

As the famous comic piano player, Victor Borge, revealed,
“Laughter is the shortest distance between two people.”
Call it charisma, personal power or the Law of Attraction.
It’s the physics of fun.

Where could you approach your goals with more flexibility,
openness and sense of play?

4. Take the Road Less Traveled

Be different, creative, fluid. Live your life as an
experiment. Exude excitement and enthusiasm about daily life.
Surprise yourself! See fresh possibilities. Perceive new
opportunities and challenges where others see problems and
limitations.

Take your dream up a notch every day. Widen your worldview.
Stretch your horizons. The electromagnetic energy of this
exuberant, open attitude will attract abundance into your
world.

Ask "Why not?"  Withdraw from collective mass consciousness.
Step beyond general consensus to remove the limits of what’s
possible for you to have. Many people have changed
society—and had fun—by doing “what couldn’t be
done.” You can too.

When you withdraw your energy field from the energy field of
the tribal collective agreement, you can create outside that
agreement. Where in your life could you step a little further
outside of mass consciousness thinking?

When you release your vise grip on the rigid, fixed beliefs
you inherited from society, the things can shift that need to
shift for something new, fresh, wonderful and miraculous to
happen to you. What are your beliefs about how life operates?
How important are these beliefs to your survival, identity,
reputation (need for approval) and sense of worth? In what
areas of your life could you right now relax your need to
control the exact functioning of the people and events around
you?

Choose to be innocent (free) of the past. Open the door to
more magic, meaning and money in your world by learning to
suspend skepticism and conditioned responses. Learn to surf
through the surprises of life, instead of being swept away by
them.

5. Give yourself a "Spacelift”

Feng-shui is the ancient art of consciously managing matter
and energy within space. By intuitively re-arranging the
elements of your daily life, you create the space to nurture
the freedom and effectiveness you desire. By clearing out the
old, dead elements of your life, you create a natural vacuum
and an unblocked channel for fresh, new energy and ideas to
come into your private and professional life.

Clutter clogs up your cash flow. Liberate the clutter in your
life—the books you don’t read, the outdated paperwork in
your drawers, the old clothes that don’t fit, the boxes of
junk in the garage. If you haven’t used it in the last six
months, it’s clutter. When you clean out the old, you make
room for the new.

How could you unblock your energy now? Where can you
re-arrange the ways you live your everyday life in a fresh,
new, intuitive way?

Also clear your path of illusions and lies … so that your
creating attention flows solely to your dreams—not to the
distractions and myths of life. Quit doing what you hate. Tell
yourself the truth about what you don't like doing … then
stop doing it.

Script your life from what brings you joy. Do what you love,
money will follow. It works. Don’t just know it … do it.
Find out!

Change one old entrenched attitude each day. Take ownership
of your attitude. Focus on what is working in a situation, not
on what’s not working at the moment. What are you
tolerating, avoiding or denying in your life right now? Where
are you compromising, sacrificing or settling for something
less than what you really want?

Create space for yourself. Spend some quiet time with
yourself every day.  Become a quiet, clear, pure vessel for
the higher self to fill. Listen to yourself and trust what you
hear. Let go of other people’s voices in your head. Take
time to consult with your spirit. Ask, “Is this activity at
this time, in this way, really serving me?

6. Feel Extravagantly

Feel generously. Feel the ecstasy—and the agony. Feel the
pain as well as the joy. Shake with fear. Let the anger rise
up and roar! Feel until you think you'll explode!

If you're not truly feeling, you're not truly alive. You're
just going through the paces. You’re only having a
NLE—Near-Life Experience.

When your e-motions move, your energy moves—your life moves
… forward. And when you let your emotions and desires move,
the Universe moves to meet you—to fulfill your desires and
dreams.

Release constrictive emotions. Unresolved emotions constrict
the free flow of energy (money) through your life. Heavy,
tight, restrictive feelings impede the natural current of life
force through your body and world. Stuck emotions equal stuck
energy equals stagnant cash flow. Find a way to move your
feelings—and your cash flow will be on the move again.

To release the blockage of these emotions, it’s helpful to
realize that all emotions are valuable messengers (friends,
allies) for they let us know how we really feel about aspects
of our lives. Jealousy and envy inform us of what we want for
ourselves in life. Move out of jealousy and allow the universe
to bring you whatever it is you’re envious of. Anger and
resentment tell us that something is out of harmony with us.
Re-align the situation and the anger dissipates.

7. Follow the Yellow Brick Road

Follow the guiding signs Spirit gives you everyday. Our soul
is always (all ways) trying to steer us toward our goals. We
live in an interactive, responsive universe that is designed
to fulfill our deepest dreams—if we would only play along!

Allow your intuition to guide you to the forms and vehicles
that will empower your spirit to express fully. What messages
and signals has the Universe been sending you that you have
been ignoring, misinterpreting, or are afraid to act on?

Listen to your body. Our body is a natural feedback system to
keep us abreast of how well we are dealing with the pressures
and demands of life. What lessons is your body reflecting to
you? What wake-up calls from your body have you been denying?
What’s the weight you are carrying around? What’s your
body dying to tell you?

Don’t defer your dream. Take a step every day in the
direction of your dreams. Set up supports and systems around
you to instantly translate your intentions into action. Jump
on every opportunity that is in line with your vision. Keep
the momentum going. No matter how hectic life gets, pledge to
take at least one action a day.

Take your aliveness up a notch. Fear less, dare more. Take on
one fresh risk or challenge every day. Take at least one
action each day that scares you. Face one truth you haven’t
been able or willing to acknowledge before. Don’t let fear
paralyze you. Set yourself free. Ask for more and reach for
more. Upgrade your dream. Revitalize your life. New
experiences make our lives richer.

It’s your joy Use it or lose it.

The Performance Rights Act Strange Fruit In Tough Economic Times

On most mornings, you like many Americans, drive to work listening to one or more radio shows where you hear the latest news, traffic and weather reports, and listen to your favorite music. These radio shows provide comic relief as we endure the drive to our dreaded 9 to 5s. And not only comic relief, they give us a beat to begin our day with because they know the pulse of the community.

Commercial radio stations like Houstons KBXX (97.9 The Box) and KMJQ (Majic 102.1) or Dallas KKDA (K104) and KBFB (97.9 The Beat) provide the community with valuable information, especially during our vulnerable moments.

Imagine, what would have happened in Houston if radio did not provide moment by moment news about food and ice locations during Hurricane Ike? Imagine, what would have happened if radio did not keep us informed about the 2008 presidential campaign and voting locations? And imagine where you would be able to hear about the latest community events, charities, and concerts without radio? If you cant imagine this, then you should be pretty concerned about the threat posed to access this free information and entertainment known as the Performance Rights Act.

Congressman John Conyers (D-Michigan) and other Congress members like Sheila Jackson-Lee(D-Texas) have teamed up with the musicFIRST coalition to pass House Resolution 848, the Performance Rights Act. This resolution and its sister bill in the Senate (S.B. 379) could change the sound of radio as we know it.

In the height of tough economic times and declining sales for the recording industry, the Performance Rights Act was introduced by Conyers. The Performance Rights Act was designed to ensure music artists are paid for the playing of their music; therefore, passage of the bill would charge local radio stations a fee to air music that the public has received for free for years.

Currently, federal copyright law only requires royalties to be paid to writers and publishers of music, not the performers. The Performance Rights Act would amend federal copyright law by extending payment to performing artists. With the passage of Performance Rights Act, artists would not have to rely solely on CD sales and concerts to make money.

This sounds like a great idea. But

Record companies are asking Congress to force radio stations to pay them (record companies) to help promote its artists music. They are losing money due to digital downloading, because people just dont have the funds for the extras, and because the quality of popular music has declined. In an effort to recoup their funds, they are working with Conyers, Jackson-Lee, and other members of Congress to make radio pay.

Unlike satellite radio, most radio stations provide free news and music to its listening audience. Commercial radio is funded solely by advertisements, and in tough economic times companies are not buying as many ads as they used to. So, where is the money going to come from to pay artists?

Radio company execs fear that they will have to lay off staff or increase advertising fees. Or they fear that radio may get out of the business of playing music and only provide talk radio.

In a press release sent out on May 13, 2009, Rep. Sheila Jackson-Lee says that, We must be crusaders for justice....I co-sponsored H.R. 848, the 'Performance Rights Act' because I believe in fairness, equity, and justice. I have great love and affection for my friends who own broadcasting companies because they are involved in this great radio industry.

However, the law that permits our gospel artists, R & B, hip-hop, jazz and other good musicians from getting just compensation has not been changed since 1909. Only Iran, China and North Korea join the United States of America in preventing artists from being compensated.

Therefore my vote today was to equalize the rights of performers like the Four Tops, the Temptations, Kirk Franklin, Yolanda Adams, Martha Reeves, Harry Belafonte, Herbie Hancock, Archie Bell and the Drells, Kanye West, Beyonce and those lesser known and new artists such as your aspiring son or daughter trying to get in the music business. People in the music industry have inspired us and comforted us. As members of Congress, we need to act to help them. It is only fair and equitable that artists who have their music played on the radio be compensated.

The Sound Exchange and certain Congress persons are saying that the Performance Rights Act is going to put money into the pockets of our beloved artists, but according to the website noperformancetax.org, the record labels would get at least 50% of the proceeds from a tax on local radio. And what will the community get in return?

The community stands to suffer by the passage of the Performance Rights Act, because radio will have to reduce public service info and events like Hip Hop for HIV, Houston Hip Hop for Haiti, and Take a Loved One to the Doctor Day. The community also stands to suffer because radio will only play those songs that they know will make them money so that they can pay the record companies. This is especially the case for African American and Latino markets, which depend so much on radio for community news.

Jarvis Johnson, Houston City Councilmember and challenger of Sheila Jackson Lees congressional seat, says that, Obviously, putting a tax on any corporation in a recession is harmful. To try to generate revenue from radio stations that provide entertainment and community resources is absurd. When we look at who the radio stations have to pay, those same entities are responsible for putting artists in dire straits. Thats like asking the fox to watch the hens. There is no clear justification.

Minority and small radio stations play an intricate part in the lives of millions of people throughout the City of Houston and nationwide. In todays times of economic uncertainty, these stations serve as not only an information center for millions; they also employ hundreds of people who help generate a base for entertainers everywhere. They serve as a galvanizing center for minority communities nationwide and their effect is felt throughout the world. It is my desire that elected officials protect the voice of these radio stations, by not just reviewing the words of the bill, but the effect that the bills application would have on the community. The obligation of every elected official is the represent the people.

Artists should get paid for their work, but who should pay them; their employers or radio?

Commercial radio is a tool which record companies use to promote their artists, but if radio has to pay, there may not be a free service to promote music anymore.

All of this tastes like strange fruit because congressional representatives from our communities are working with big business to adulterate a community resource by adding fees to a public service. And they are using our beloved artists to sell us this rotten fruit.

In tough economic times big business still has to make its money, so why not charge for services that are normally free. The Performance Rights Act is being funded by record companies so that they can make money since their sales are continuing to plummet.

Follow the money and see where the trail ends lobbyists, record companies, congressmen, or the artists.

Comic Book Prices Only Part of Your Hobby

Comic book collecting was once the realm of children who only cared about comic book prices as buyers. They weren't selling or trying to get the best deal. Comic book prices affected whether they could get comic books that week, and how many they could get.

Comic book prices were printed on the items they wanted and were therefore static. If they wanted a 25-cent cartoon book, they had to come up with a quarter with which to buy it.

Back then, there were no cartoon book collection supplies or cartoon book collecting bloggers. Collectors were pretty much on their own. They made their choices according to what they liked.

Then they grew up. Comic book prices went up. But they also discovered that many people were getting rid of their old collections and that they were able to buy books that they had always wanted.

Savvy collectors who were getting rid of their books reasoned that people would be willing to pay good money for books they really wanted. A new kind of cartoon book market was born.

As this market evolves and becomes more complicated, collectors have begun to trade more than cartoon books; they have begun trading information.

Whole businesses have grown up around selling cartoon book collection supplies and cartoon book collecting bloggers are out there filling the Internet with all kinds of information.

There is an infinite number of variables that cause comic book prices to go up or down. Of course, it can all be filed under the law of supply and demand, but so many things affect demand that it takes an expert just to make an educated guess. And cartoon book collecting bloggers don't have to have any special credentials to dispense information.

All they have to be is convincing. So if you are searching for the best way to handle collecting, buying and selling, or the best cartoon book collection supplies to buy, it's best to look at a lot of sources, to cross reference, and to look very skeptically at what people say.

If you are a beginning collector, decide on the comic book collection supplies that you will need to start your collection. If you plan on buying and selling comic books, for instance, keep a system of the ones you buy and sell.

Also, buy a cartoon book price guide so you can keep up with the latest trends in the industry. With enough research, you will be able to tell experts from beginners in the cartoon book field.

Comic book collecting was once a simple and fun pastime that was meant for kids. In the last few decades, though, it has become a way to make money because of their increasing value over the years.

Comic book prices have increased as a result of their potential. But cartoon book collecting can still be fun. If had a collection as a kid, you can find the comic book prices on the market and sell them if you'd like.

Or, if you'd rather, just learn more about the industry so you know what kind of precious commodities you have in your possession. With the wide selection of cartoon book collection supplies and comic book collection bloggers, there is an entirely new aspect to the entire industry.
