A Look at the Hulk Vs Marvel Universe Gods: Hulk Vs Hercules

We've seen the headlines: Hulk vs Superman, Hulk vs Wolverine, Hulk vs the Thing, and, basically, Hulk vs other superheroes. Classics that piqued our imagination. Who's the strongest? Who's the best fighter? Who'll win?

Time and time again the Hulk has proven that he's more than a match to most, if not all, super heroes. But how does he fair against gods? Lucky for us, there are two gods in the Marvel comic book universe, one from Olympus and one from Asgard, who walk among mortals and they've scuffled with the Hulk on a few occassions.

Let's take a look at some of these matchups between Marvel powerhouses:

HULK vs HERCULES

Only a handful of characters symbolize strength. Throughout history, no one is more famous for strength than the Greek demigod, Hercules. His feats of strength, the 12 Labors of Hercules, are passed down from generations to generations. In the Marvel universe, however, Hercules, an immortal from Mt. Olympus, has had to contend with other powerful beings to earn the title of "The Strongest". And he doesn't always win.

Indeed, the Hulk and Hercules have met in various issues with mixed outcomes:

- AVENGERS #267. Comic book fans first saw the Hulk and Hercules battle it out in Avengers No 267. In this issue, Hercules and the Avengers were trapped in limbo by their nemesis, Kang. Upon their first arrival, the Incredible Hulk came out of nowhere to attack the Avengers. Hercules stepped up and delivered a single knockout blow to the Hulk. Puzzled over the quick outcome, after examining the unconscious giant, the Avengers concluded that the Hulk was under a trance which rendered him less of his usual threat. And then the Hulk faded away into thin air. source: The Big DataBase of Comic Books (comics-db.com)

Perhaps Avengers 267 should not count as an encounter, but it nevertheless gave comic book fans a sneak peek of future fights featuring Hulk vs Hercules.

- HULK #316. Many Hulk and Avengers fan still remember the big clash in Hulk No 316 when the Banner-less, rampaging Hulk took on four Avengers, namely Iron Man, Wonder Man, Namor and Hercules. The fight was interrupted by Doc Samson who felt responsible for removing Bruce Banner from the Hulk in the first place. source: LeadersLair.com

- HULK-HERCULES UNLEASHED. If you're a Hulk fan, you'll thoroughly enjoy this one. After the superheroes went missing because of Onslaught, Hercules tried to convince the Hulk, the lone survivor, in helping to find the other heroes. Hulk was not in the mood and a brawl ensued. Hercules was beaten so bad that he would have died had Zeus not intervened to save him.

Hulk and Hercules have scuffled in a handful of other issues. The latest being HULK VS. HERCULES: WHEN TITANS CLASH published on April 2008.

The complete article can be viewed at Planet Comic Book Radio. It includes part two listing Hulk vs Thor with pictures of cover pages and comic strip panels.

"Capes, Crooks & Cliffhangers: Heroic Serial Posters of the Golden Age" from Heritage

Do you recall the posters of the Golden Age's serial movies? Audiences from the 1930s and 1940s would come out to see these Hollywood Hits and the posters were colorful, action filled and intriguing. For those of you who collect such posters or just think they are cool, Heritage Auction Galleries has announced the publication of Capes, Crooks & Cliffhangers: Heroic Serial Posters of the Golden Age.

The book comes with a special introduction by Noel Neill, the woman who played televisions original Lois Lane.

According to news from Heritage Auction Galleries -“All of these colorful characters, and many others from the comics, pulps, and radio, made their silver screen debuts as multi-part serials,” said Grey Smith, co-author of the book and Director of Vintage Movie Posters at Heritage, “in which the hero would face certain death at the end of each chapter, urging their fans to return week after week to continue their thrilling adventures.”

The superheroes that are now the subjects of multi-million-dollar blockbuster films and the centers of merchandising and comic book franchises – names like Batman, Superman and Captain Marvel – may have gotten their starts in the pages of Golden Age comic books, but it was actually in these serial adventures that their names and personas were forever bonded to the American psyche.

“In reading about these amazing posters, and the classic serials they represent,” said John Petty, Co-author of Capes, Crooks & Cliffhangers, “You get a real sense of how these chapter plays transported depression-era audiences to a place of absoluteness. There was good and bad, right and wrong and just and evil. You can imagine how important this was to people in such confusing times.”

No less a person than Stan Lee calls it, “… a page turner…a literary and artistic feast,” and Leonard Maltin hails it as “[a] welcome book.” Nice... Thanks Stan...Ivy Press, a division of Heritage Auction Galleries, has announced the publication of Capes, Crooks & Cliffhangers: Heroic Serial Posters of the Golden Age, a new book about the serials of the 1930s, 1940s, and 1950s that were based on characters from comic books, pulps, radio, and more, and the classic posters used to promote them to movie going audiences. The posters, featuring such popular characters as Superman, Batman, Flash Gordon, The Green Hornet, Tarzan, and the Lone Ranger, are eagerly sought today and can command prices well into the five-figure range.

The standard 300+ page softcover edition, which includes hundreds of full-color illustrations, is available for $39.95. Also available is a deluxe slipcased hardcover edition – strictly limited to 100 copies, for only $125.

Dog + Google = Freedom!

Dog + Google = Freedom!

Did you know the fourth most typed in keyword on Google is "dog"?

You might ask, as I did six months ago, what the heck is a keyword...? And how could that little obscure fact possibly matter to me?

Well let me start at the beginning. I worked in retail, a little dress shop in my hometown earning barely more than minimum wage... and if any of you have ever worked retail, then I needn't add anything further to describe the utter misery...you know.

My boss was a nightmare who was the continual direct cause of our always running short-handed. I mean who needs a boss that treats you like the latest sludge -- and all for minimum wage?

So our help would always move on to McDonalds, and the few of us who had long since weathered the boss's insults, were left alone to face overtime and the Christmas rush.

It is here my story really begins.

I wanted out -- and I wanted out badly. But I DIDN'T want McDonalds. What I wanted... was my own online business.

Being a web surfer myself, I knew where the money was. It was on the World Wide Web.

Oooh...I thought, if only I had a product. Gotta have a product right? And I barely knew how to send an email. I'd need to be computer savvy and know something about HTML to design a professional site right? Impossible I thought.

So I started working the Ebay scene, sold a few antiques, but sold them too cheap. I looked into drop shipping, the prices were not at all competitive enough. My business savvy brother-in-law hooked me up with a guy from China who immediately ripped me off with some phoney cameras I had hoped to make good on Ebay.

I even tried my hand at being a political cartoonist with a 2-frame comic strip I created called Schnooks & Levi. But the political scene moves so quickly, by the time any syndicate received my satires, they were obsolete.

Lost money on yet another tele-marketing scheme. How did I ever believe I could be an obnoxious-in-your-face-force-feed-a-sale-down-your-throat salesperson? And there were a few other get-rich-quick scams I can't even remember now.

I was skimmed and scammed by almost every two bit flim-flam around. And you're thinking... geez what were you thinking?

Well I can answer that. I wasn't exactly thinking...I was desperate. Because you see at the same time, the business at my husband's job of ten years had fallen off to nothing and our dream home we had built was going into foreclosure. We had no assets, only dark clouds up ahead. We were terrified.

And so, in the midst of this perfect storm, what did I do? I quit my dead-end retail job. Say what? Yeah, that's what I did... I quit my job. I decided it was going to be all or nothing. I would set about to finding, and that with no distractions, the key to a lasting success.

As I said, I looked into everything, and was scammed by everyone and everything -- that is until late one particular night.

It was about 1 a.m., and there I was again, at the computer...searching - searching - searching. I had just finished reading another get-rich-quick guru's plan, that the only person who gets rich quick, or gets rich period, is the guru himself, who just happened to be born with the gift of gab. I was now seasoned to all the different traps.

And as my tired brain scanned the endless pages of business opportunities, bitterness and cynicism filling my whole being, my eyes fell upon an attractive little ad.

It showed a man and a dog walking down a Tuscany-like tree encumbered lane with the words... "We wanted to start a web business....What we ended up with was a life..."

I stared at it with sleepy eyes and thought -- yeah, yeah, another get-rich-quick. But oh well, I clicked on it anyway. And as I read the pitch, it was like nothing I had heard yet...and I had heard it all!

As I kept reading, light bulbs started turning on. My cynicism was turning into HOPE... something I had lost track of some months back.

This was my introduction to SBI, or Site Build It! and the more I read, the more excited I became. SBI could show me everything I needed to know about building a website, but not just a site that would drift aimlessly among the millions of other sites on the web, but a website that would be the success I so needed it to be.

SBI offered pages and pages of websites that were created by people like me whose sites had achieved positions in the top 3% on the Web. Do you have any idea how difficult that is to achieve? But there they were with their home pages shining as stark evidence that could be easily researched.

And I did. I was down to my last credit card. I couldn't afford to make another mistake...literally.

So I emailed many of these SBIers with sites as diverse in content as juggling is to cat art. Each one was quick to reply to my queries and seemed always eager to praise SBI for their success. And these people HAVE attained success, and their enthusiasm was infectious! This was no jive. This was what I was looking for.

What happened next? I signed on.

But what about not having a product to sell? And what about not being computer savvy?

Well, I had become enlightened by SBI. I didn't need a product... just a passion. And my passion happened to be Jack Russell Terriers.

And you ask, how in the world can you make money with a website about dogs?

You become what I now am professionally -- an infopreneur.

An info what?

It is a person that creates a website that gives all the information it possibly can about any subject. It's what the Web is all about -- information. And once you build a site paying a great service to fellow dog lovers around the whole world looking for sites that feed their like-passions for Jack Russells, the ways to monetize are endless.

With the universal frenzy that exists for pets, these visitors will be looking for all kinds of products that can be easily obtained and advertised on your site, whether it be through your affiliation with Amazon.com, or an affiliation with a specialized site that deals, say in Global Pet Finder Collars. Google Adsense is also a perfect monetizing model for the infopreneur. In other words, you own and operate a venue that makes it possible to offer any product that will answer the need of the visitor.

Has the light bulb turned on for you now?

No? Still need more proof? Then let me welcome you to my own website... Jack Russell Terrier Pics & Tics.

And as you view the pages that me, myself, and I created (but only with the spectacular help of the infamous SBI Action Guide that shows you step by step through its fantastic video-tutorials, and also the magnificent Site Build It! Forum where you have thousands of successful webmasters there to answer your every stupid question, but treat you like you're already a pro)

as you view my pages, remember that I barely knew how to send an email when I signed up.

So this brings me to the title of this true story.

Six months ago, I had no idea what I was going to do. Now, because of SBI, and not a little hard work and a true passion for Jack Russell Dogs... Dog + Google = FREEDOM!

Marvel Legends Action Figures

If you are a Marvel comic book fun, then you probably have some of the action figures that are out there. You definitely have the original characters of the X-Men, the Fantastic Four, and the Hulk and probably even have the Daredevil action figuring.

These action hero figurines are not only restricted to small kid’s in fact most of the time you will find, that adults are the ones that have kept this kind of action figures. The Marvel Legends Action Figures are the current design of the sought after superhero characters that we have always loved and adored. People that buy these action figurines are Marvel comic fun and usually they have kept these figurines for a very look time. The old it is the better and in fact you will find if they have kept the figures for a very long time they have maintained them in mint condition which makes the figurine more expensive and worth a lot of money.

The Marvel Legends Action Figurines will include the X-Men in their original suits like wolverine in his original yellow spandex suit who is actually the only character that has really been changed especially his outfit and his don’t care attitude. Many of these figurines may come in a pack like the Fantastic Four action figurines comes with the Human Torch, Mr. Fantastic, invisible girl and the Thing. So if you are a fun of the Marvel Legends Action figures then you can always get online and your best bet would be to look up the Marvel website where to get this action figures. They come in different variety and sizes and you can probably get the six inch fully articulated size or you can buy the fully twelve inch superheroes action figures.

5 Inexpensive Resources To Learn Animation, Game Design And Comic Art

Animation, Computer Game Design and Comic Art are three of the most wonderful expressions of art that speak to the child in all of us. They can tell stories so simple or so rich and complex that they can engage an audience no matter how old or young.

With technology the way it is animation, game design and comic art education is accessible like never before. You don't need to do a sixty thousand dollar arts course to be inspired and educated by the best in the world and make something of your own to share with the world.

If you are interested in any of these creative pursuits or would like to encourage someone you know who is interested here are a few mind-blowing resources to inspire and guide creation.

1. Instructional DVDs From Gnomon Workshop
These DVDs have been professionally put together by artists who work in the fields of traditional and computer generated art, and the range of subjects and tutors increases every year. You can learn all about animation, digital painting, storyboarding, game design, character modelling, conceptual art and more from noted contributors that will teach and inspire you to create.

2. Drawn To Life
This book is a compilation of class notes written by Walt Stanchfield and distributed to animators in training at Disney's CALARTS college during a thirty year period. Hands down it is the most inspiring book on not only the technique of animation but an artistic approach to life.  Volume one is essential and leads into volume two which I would recommend if you can afford.

3. Imaginative Realism: How To Paint What Doesn't Exist
James Gurney is most famous for his Dinotopia series of books. He has also been contributing to the world of art knowledge regularly on his Blog The Gurney Journey for some years now. This book is a compilation of the best of that Blog and also a few extras. It is a rich book filled with insight on the artistic process of creating worlds and characters that only exist in our minds and bringing them to life, based on the lessons of the masters.

4. Directing the Story: Professional Storytelling & Storyboarding Techniques for Live Action & Animation
Covers the process of putting a story together by a professional film-maker and highly regarded teacher.  A Comprehensive how-to textbook by one of the most highly regarded teachers in the field.

5 The Art Of... Books
Take your pick. For each major film in animation, Sci-Fi or fantasy there is generally a book released called "The Art Of... [insert film name]". Each book generally is light on word sand heavy on images. The images are a balance of sketches, paintings and other artworks that the designers of the film created to help the words of the script come to life in images. They are invaluable insight in to the design process. And also once you buy one...they are highly addictive!

This is, of course, just a starting list. You also need life drawing resources and information on how to use the specific tools you choose to create with. But the inspiration and basic artistic background for animation, gaming and comic art all stem from writing and constructing a good story and being able to bring it to visual life with style and these resources will help inspire and guide you towards that goal.

Comic Books and Independence Day Go Hand-in-Hand

Last weekend, the United States of America celebrated its national holiday on the 4th of July, Independence Day. The holiday is celebrated in remembrance of the US declaring its independence from Great Britain with the signing of the Declaration of Independence on July 4, 1776. Common festivities unique to this holiday are fireworks displays, family parties, barbecues and, ceremonies honoring the United States. It is traditional for to wear red, white, and blue or anything with an American flag on it. A comic book superhero is a great example of a patriotic figure who represents the United States of America and who’s costume emblems the American flag. He is known as Captain America, a fictional character created by Jack Kirby and Joe Simon. His patriotic character was created to represent the fighting powers of the US during World War II, and first appeared in comics in the 1940s.

Captain America is the alter ego of Steve Rogers, a sickly young man. He was given an experimental super soldier serum to make him stronger to help aid with war efforts and his human abilities were enhanced to perfection because of the serum. The character is a little different than other superheroes because he doesn’t have super hero abilities. He is the ideal, perfect human being that has achieved perfection, strength, and conditioning. His costume, which has an American flag on it, is also indestructible and can be used as a weapon.

These characteristic traits made him the most popular Marvel Comic’s comic book character during World War II, and an American indestructible super soldier. His popularity after the war ended and production stopped for a little while. Marvel comics tried to revive the character in the late 1950s but, were unsuccessful. In recent news, Captain America had a newly enhanced comic released on July 1st in celebration of Independence Day. It is a mini series called Captain America: Reborn #1. The series starts off where the last comic ended in which Steve Rogers was arrested on accusations of being a terrorist and was killed, or so people thought. Captain America Reborn, a limited series, will reveal the truth behind the death of Steve Rogers, who in fact didn’t actually die.

Captain America was intentionally created as a political figure. Comics are another channel in which political thoughts and ideas are expressed. In one issue, there is a picture of him punching Nazi Leader Adolf Hitler which became one of the most popular issues sold. There are other political comics such as the Female Force series. Having political comics is another way to get more people involved in current events and the political system.

Mordechai Vanunu: 1986 Whistle Blower of Israel's WMD Program Saga from 2005-2010

Just days before my first of seven journeys to Israel and occupied Palestine in June 2005, a Palestinian American friend warned me, “Don’t visit Vanunu, if you see him; don’t speak to him. He’s not allowed to speak to foreigners and you could cause him trouble.”

I responded, “OK, I won’t track him down, but Jerusalem is a small town and if our paths cross, I will speak to him. What kind of government is that, that will tell a human being who they can and cannot talk with?”

Not only did I cross paths with the Whistle Blower of Israel's WMD program during that trip, I have met with Vanunu on every trip since, have been streaming 2005, 2006 and 2008 video interviews with him on my site and have reported since day one on his FREEDOM OF SPEECH TRIAL in the ‘democracy’ of Israel since it began January 25, 2006.

This American citizen journalist also writes to assure Israeli SECURITY that Vanunu never gave me an order that I have followed.

Nor have I done anything other than follow my conscience and of course SECURITY knows all about me, for I tell the truth at Ben Gurion Airport, get strip searched and write all about it on the WWW.

I also have written twice to the Mossad agent who trapped him in 1986 and who lives less than a two hour car drive from my home:

My letters never returned, but I noted visits to my site dramatically increased within two days of my posting.

All during Vanunu's captivity in occupied East Jerusalem, since April 21, 2004, he has spoken with hundreds –if not thousands-of internationals.

Israel hires Palestinian spies to follow him around and they monitor his phone calls and emails.

On December 28, 2009, Vanunu was arrested/HARASSED once again, this time just for meeting with his Norwegian girlfriend, Dr. Kristin Joachimsen, a scholar and an associate professor of Biblical Studies. They have known each other for two years, and if i knew that, SECURITY had to have too.

On You Tube, Russian media reported that a search of Vanunu’s belongings uncovered a letter from an American causing Israeli officials to be concerned that “he could be orchestrating something."

In June 2009, I mailed a copy of my second book and a few articles to the Israeli High Court Judge, so she could read the final chapter; BROTHER V and learn what this American’s interest in Vanunu has been: his childhood, his stumbling into Christianity, his FREEDOM OF SPEECH TRIAL and denial of basic human rights by the Jewish State.

In June 2005, Vanunu told me, "When I decided to expose Israel's nuclear weapons I acted out of conscience and to warn the world to prevent a nuclear holocaust.”

I too act out of conscience and because corporate media has failed to do their job; go-seek and report the truth, no matter how ugly or brutal it is.

In June 2005, Vanunu told me:

"When I became the spy for the world I did it all for the people of the world. If governments do not report the truth, if media does not report the truth, all we can do is follow our conscience...Israel is the only country in the Middle East where America can right now find WMD's. America can also find where basic human rights have been denied Christians, right here in Israel.

"My Christian conversion was also considered as treason and led to me receiving more time in jail than any murderer has ever served. The Israelis have this very beautiful article about freedom and liberty but they want to destroy anyone who criticizes them for revealing the truth to the world. The world must look and see what kind of democracy Israel is when one speaks out the truth. Israel is not a democracy unless you are a Jew."

Anyone who bothers to speaks with Vanunu for even a few minutes can readily understand that the 'secret' Vanunu has that can harm Israel is nothing more than bad PR!

On the third day of my fifth trip to occupied east Jerusalem, I crossed paths with Vanunu on July 16, 2007; the 9th day of Av, the day which commemorates the Jewish Temple’s destruction.

I was on my way back to my hotel on Nablus Road in occupied east Jerusalem just after attending the Israeli Committee Against House Demolitions media kick off day regarding that summer’s plan to rebuild 300 homes out of the now 24,000 Palestinian dwellings that the state of Israel has destroyed since 1967.

I had just witnessed the pouring of the foundation of the new home of the Hamdan clan of nine who still had the deeds to their property that were filled-out during the Ottoman Empire.

My mind was still on them when I noticed in front of me an old man, hunched over as in the proverbial image of one whose back is breaking under the weight of the world, walking very slowly and talking to himself.

It was not until I passed him by and he called out to me, "Hi, remember me?"

Only because I recognized his voice, did I realize, that I had passed by Mordechai Vanunu.

I had failed to recognize him, for I had walked with Vanunu on the streets of occupied east Jerusalem before, and he always had walked as fast as I did, and everyone in my life who takes a walk with me, always tells me to slow down, for they cannot keep up!

Vanunu’s gait on that day was like many other old men's on the hot streets of Jerusalem in July and it broke my heart to see such a change in him.

But, Vanunu smiled when he informed, "This is the very spot where they stoned to death the first Christian martyr for freedom of speech," as we had crossed paths in front of St. Stephen's Church.

2,000 years ago, Saint Stephen was the first follower of Jesus to be stoned to death for speaking truth to power

Vanunu had quit talking to me once again in June 2007, after he emailed me with his command to delete the "30 Minutes with Vanunu" from my website.

Vanunu didn’t give me a reason as to why and I emailed him back that no way would or could I comply with such a request, for the video was also cross posted on Goggle News and Information Clearing House and had become a part of his history.

But now that we were face to face, I asked him, "Just exactly why did you want that video deleted?"

He responded, "It's not making any money."

I retorted, "Look, I have no control over people's generosity or lack of!"

He smiled as he challenged me, "If you want to keep running my video, you should pay me $1,000.00 a month."

We both laughed at that!

In March 2006, just prior to the taping of “30 Minutes with Vanunu” he told me that his brother Meir had the idea that all the media that caused his FREEDOM OF SPEECH trial -which lead to a six month jail sentence handed down on July 3, 2007- should donate at least a thousand dollars to his defense fund.

As all the media who he had spoken with Vanunu in 2004, had been MIA ever since, we both had hoped the video interview would raise awareness and some much needed funds, for Vanunu has been living off the generosity of supporters since he hasn’t had a job since 1986.

I reminded Vanunu that, “I never claimed to be a fundraiser. I am a writer and the only way I can really help you is to keep writing your story and running that video. Unless we the people stand up and claim our liberties and rights, we don't have any!

“It is only right and just that my work remains on my site and I remind you that Article 19 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights affirms-and which Israel agreed to uphold for their very statehood was contingent upon- affirms that: Everyone has the right to freedom of opinion and expression; this right includes freedom to hold opinions without interference and to seek, receive and impart information and ideas through any media and regardless of frontiers.

Vanunu shrugged and replied, “Do what you want.”

That is always what he has ended up saying to me, every time we have argued.

I met Vanunu for the first time, in June 2005, which was only days after he disbanded the US Campaign to free Vanunu. I hadn’t even known there was a campaign; in fact I had not even heard his name until I began to research for my first book, KEEP HOPE ALIVE, and he became one of the stories I told in it.

In 2005, I was interested in learning what kind of kid Vanunu had been and how he stumbled into Christianity. After he filled me in, I was convinced that when America knew what kind of person he had been; everything would change for him and occupied Palestine.

Vanunu told me I was naïve and I have never disagreed, for that is how I am wired and also the way it just is.

In July 2007, Vanunu laughed at me when he said, “You are too naïve. You think you're going to change anything with your website? Maybe a few hundred people a day read anything you say.”

I replied, “I know I am just one little voice in the wilderness calling out, but there are more like me all the time and the weapons NONVIOLENT people have are words!

“And only in solidarity do we have it in our power to begin the world again.

“And I have a link connected to my site that tells me the U.S. Government and Military visit me daily, and even if Big Brother were my only readers, it is worth it to me to speak out and agitate them with the truth. It is the right and just thing to do.”

I then reminded Vanunu, that when I was a child, my dream had been to grow up and be like Brenda Starr; the red headed ace investigative journalist of the Sunday Comics.

Vanunu laughed at me when I said it again in 2007, but when I first told him about my child hood dream in June 2005, he looked at me like I was crazy and it was the first time he had ever heard of Brenda Starr.

I suppose it is crazy for me to still believe that Vanunu’s on going misery will wake up American Christians about the truth in the Holy Land, but only those deemed crazy by the status quo, ever make a difference in this world and so, I persist.

I suppose it also is crazy how Vanunu got caught up in my mind with George; a little boy of Beit Jala, a suburb on the west side of the Little Town of Occupied Bethlehem, who irrevocably changed my life, but I ascribe that experience to be a mystical one.

It is George's three year old face that adorns the banner of my website and the photo is courtesy of photographer Debbie Hill, who ‘captured’ George the morning after the Israeli army destroyed his bedroom in retaliation for a few hopeless militants who had infiltrated his once peaceful Christian village to snipe across the way into the illegal settlement/colony of Gilo.

The shrapnel that pierced the wall of George's sanctuary read 'Made in USA' and was delivered via American made Apache helicopters.

The second I saw George's eyes, in the photo first published in 2000, by The Florida Catholic, my heart said "DO SOMETHING!"

What could I possibly do I wondered, but I did make a copy of the photo, put it in a frame and placed it upon the altar [a bar high table] in the upper room of my home. Dozens of times a day, I still stop and gaze into the eyes of that little boy of Bethlehem as I beg God to intervene and help us end the insane cycle of violence in the so called Holy Land for the sake of all the children who live there.

When I met George for the first time in June 2005, I vowed to him that the rest of my life would be dedicated to doing something to help bring about the end of the occupation of Palestine. Of course I was clueless as to what I could do as well as how an impossible mission I had taken on, but as it is only the hopeless causes that are worth fighting for, I persist.

In April 2005, two months before my first trip to Israel and occupied Palestine, I turned the TV on which had been tuned in last to the History Channel.

The very clip that ran before my eyes was of Vanunu being transported to his closed door trial in 1986 which captured his inspired move to write upon his palm: "HIJACKED" and the Rome flight number he had been on.

The show was called, "Sexpionage" and was all about Russian female spies, one from the Mossad and also documented Shimon Perez, lying to the world that Israel would never be the first in the Mid East to introduce nuclear weapons.

Then a black and white photo of a bearded, unkempt and disheveled Vanunu filled the TV screen, and I immediately thought his eyes looked just like George's of Beit Jala's. And once again, I heard in my heart: "Do Something!"

Not until I met Vanunu did I learn his eyes are nothing like George's of Beit Jala, but I have done something; documented some of his history and likened him to Jeremiah, the prophet of doom.

When Vanunu read my comparison, he emailed me:

“DON’T CALL ME THAT!”

But in the spirit of freedom of speech and because I listen to my conscience, I persist!

It should be understood that prophets do NOT necessarily predict the future-but they do point out impending doom and at least provoke people to think about God.

In 1986, Vanunu pointed to the Negev and Israel’s clandestine seven-story underground WMD facility called the Dimona, which still has never allowed IAEA inspectors into.

Israel has kept Vanunu under house arrest in occupied east Jerusalem for nearly five years now, claiming he still has something he hasn’t said about a place he has not set foot into since 1985 and it is ludicrous-perhaps insane- to imagine things haven’t changed since then.

The Hebrew prophet Jeremiah spent much of his life under house arrest in Jerusalem, for talking truth to power. We know more about the personal life and struggles of Jeremiah than any other Hebrew prophet. Jeremiah, which translates as “The Lord throws”-as in hurling, had few friends, was intensely introspective, self-critical, timid by nature but was always honest and open about his feelings.

Jeremiah never married and began prophesying in Judah from 604-586, a time of storm and stress when the doom of entire nations-including Judah itself-was being sealed.

Jeremiah had been the king's friend and confident, but the prophet soon entered a dreary round of persecution and imprisonment, alternating with only brief periods of freedom and was labeled a traitor and agitator, for saying things such as:

“I cannot keep silent…Disaster follows disaster; the land lies in ruins…My people are fools; they do not know me.”-Jeremiah 4:19

In 2005, Vanunu told me:

“I really had no idea what I was doing by getting baptized a Christian, I just felt like I had to do it. It was my way to be a new being. It wasn’t until after my trial that I started to read the New Testament.

“While I was in prison I would read aloud for ½ hour twice a day. I would read the entire New Testament and begin it again when I finished the Book of Revelation. I did this for me as well as for my captors. Not so much the prison guards but the ones who watched me on camera 24 hours a day.

“Once I covered up the camera that spied on me and was punished for one month in solitary without any books or radio, no contact with anyone anywhere was allowed.

“The Shen Beet, you know like the FBI and the Mossad, like your CIA were watching me constantly. They tortured me by keeping a light on in my cell constantly for two years. They told me it was because they were afraid I would commit suicide, and the oppressive camera was for my safety. They recruited the guards and other prisoners to irritate me. They would deprive me of sleep by making loud noises near my cell all night long.

“I chose to read them 1 Corinthians 13, instead:

Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, and it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with THE TRUTH! It always protects, it always trusts, always hopes, and always perseveres. Love never fails.

“For the first five years I was in prison every day, twice a day I would loudly pray by reading Bible verses. I would also read the Anglican service from the Book of Common Prayer. I did it twice a day, every day for five years.

“I began to see I had become like a machine. I knew if I continued I would lose my mind. So after that I only prayed in silence. Although I knew I was driving them nuts with my loud praying, it was driving me nuts too.”

On my last day in Jerusalem in June 2005, I met Vanunu at the American Colony, and we walked as fast as any two New Yorkers’ up the hill to the Mount of Olives. When we reached the spot to view the site of the tombs of many Jews, Vanunu said, “Those are the Jews expecting to be resurrected first when the Messiah comes.”

I asked Vanunu:

“Have you heard of the USA craze of the Left Behind series of books which leave behind the gospel of peace and love. These books are bad theology and poor literature. Did you know that in America there are Christians who actually want Armageddon? They believe they will escape the nuclear holocaust because they are now the new chosen ones. They think they will be raptured, they think they will be lifted out of the world. They believe a theology of escapism and they ignore that the gospel is: ‘The peacemakers shall be called the children of God’ and that Jesus is The Prince of Peace.”

Vanunu replied, “The time has come for the USA to see the truth of Zionism. It began as a secular nationalist movement not a religious one. Then some Christians believed when Israel became a nation it was the beginning of the second coming. They are deluded if they believe peace will come through atomic weapons. Atomic weapons are holocaust weapons. Christians should be the first people against them…The Christians in America should be helping the Christians here. America needs to wake up to this fallacy that Jesus will come back by nuclear war. America needs to wake up that the Palestinian Christians here have no human rights. Aren’t Christians supposed to be concerned about other Christians? Aren’t Christians supposed to be concerned about all the poor and oppressed?”

I responded, “It is non-negotiable all that stuff Jesus said about doing for the least and the oppressed. It is non-negotiable for Christians that we must forgive our enemies and we must love those who hate us, for what ever we do or do not do, we do it unto God!

“Every time I went through a checkpoint, saw the wall or heard a story of oppression, I wondered how God can stand this situation. I can’t.”

At the summit of the Mount of Olives there is much pavement, but not many trees. I found one tree cradling a few stone steps and sat down while Vanunu wandered about. After about ten minutes, Vanunu reappeared and I immediately asked him, “How was it being crucified for telling the truth?”

“My human rights have been denied me because I am a Christian. When I was on trial I was treated just like a Palestinian; no human rights at all and cruel and unusual punishment, all because I told the truth. The government spread slander about me, that I was a homosexual, that I hated Jews, that I wanted fame and money. What I did was sacrifice my life for the truth. In prison I really began to feel like Jesus and Paul. When Jesus threw the moneychangers out of the temple, it was like me in Dimona exposing the Israelis’ dirty secrets. I felt like Paul being thrown in prison for speaking the truth.

“The only real way to worship is in loving one’s enemies. It was not easy to love my tormentors, it was only because I felt so much like Jesus crucified on the cross, and me crucified in prison, that I could do it. It was not ever easy. I have forgiven but not forgotten anything and I never will.

“In Israel, a life sentence is 25 years. Even murderers go free after 17. They imposed the same restrictions on me that Palestinians receive; no human rights at all. No phone, no visitors except family and only through an iron grill. No vacation, no holidays, no gifts. Even murderers get out for vacations! I was locked up for 18 years and still cannot go on vacation, I cannot leave and that is all I am asking, just to leave here.

“For 18 years in prison they even attempted to control my thoughts on paper. I would write exactly what I wanted and they would censor words like ‘kidnapped’ and ‘atomic bomb.’ They would show me how they chopped up my letters, but I continued to write exactly what I wanted. They held my body, but never my spirit or mind.

“The only way to peace is peace; the only way is non-violence. The only answer to Israeli nuclear weapons, their aggression, occupation and oppression, the wall and refugee camps is to answer them with truth and a peace-full voice. When I became the spy for the world I did it all for the people of the world.

“If governments do not report the truth, if media does not report the truth, all we can do is follow our conscience. Daniel Ellsberg did, the woman from Enron did, and I did.

“The USA needs to wake up and see the truth that Israel is not a democracy unless you are a Jew. Israel is the only country in the Middle East where America can right now find WMD’s. America can also find where basic human rights have been denied Christians, right here in Israel.”

I told Vanunu, “In America we understand about inalienable rights. That means they are God given rights that governments cannot take away. The right to worship where and how we choose. When I read that you were not allowed to go the few miles from Jerusalem to Bethlehem on Christmas Eve 2004, to celebrate mass at the Church of the Nativity, I wondered, what kind of democracy is that?

“I cannot understand how a democracy can haul anyone into jail just because they wanted to go to a church in the next town.

“American democracy ensures her citizens the right to think and to speak out the truth as we see it.

“American democracy understands everyone has the right to a life, to liberty-which means freedom from captivity and any arbitrary controls.

“Last night I attended an Interfaith Peace Conference at Notre Dame Cathedral and I kept thinking about what President George W. Bush promised at his second inaugural and wondered if he had even one thought about Palestinians when he delivered it.”

‘There is no justice without freedom. There can be no human rights without liberty. All who live in tyranny and hopelessness can know the United States will not ignore your oppression, or excuse your oppressors. When you stand for liberty we will stand with you.’-George W. Bush

Just weeks after his FREEDOM OF SPEECH TRIAL began the whistle blower of Israel's underground WMD Facility sent this message to Senator Clinton and USA Christians:

Vanunu's Message to Hillary Clinton re: The Apartheid Wall

Do modern Christians ignore the writings of Philo and Josephus?

except for the occasional one line quote when it serves their interests?

If the writings of these two men are taken as a whole to recreate a picture of the early Jewish community that produced the Christian Church, the modern Christians go running for the hills.

They don't want to hear anything that contradicts their silly little notions of First Century Jerusalem and their comic book Gospels.

It might undermine their 'faith'.

Knowledge has a tendency to do that.
I don't think Christians have a clue period, eye candy.

I don't think they have any clue of what you are talking about! LOL

Edit**** Yes Father Guido! I agree! LOL

GREEN LANTERN #53

5 OUT OF 5

Taking place after the Blackest Night, the colored corps has established an intergalactic peace between themselves. Someone has captured the Phalanx and ready to collect the other entities that power the various corps. Hal Jordan and Carol Ferris explore their relationship however cut short by another lantern. Geoff Johns pulls an inside joke between Luthor and Larfleeze. Awesome issue and a great start with a curious end that leaves you wanting more.

ULTIMATE AVENGERS #6

3 OUT OF 5

This is the end of the first story arc by Mark Millar. The story is very tame compared to the action in Nemesis. The last 5 issues have been a slow build to this conclusion. Really felt like the story arc could be finished in 3 issues. The art by Carlos Pacheco is amazing however his past work in the limited series Avengers Forever was better.

SUPERGIRL #52

2 OUT OF 5

This book serves as a prelude to this fall's Supergirl Annual #2 than part of the current Last Stand for New Krypton storyline. The book begins with Zod taking the fight to Brainiac, the relationship between Brainiac 5 and Supergirl, and ends with Superman returning to the fight. Nothing really appealing except for waiting the the Supergirl Annual #2 this fall to get the complete story.

DARK WOLVERINE #85

4 OUT OF 5

This issue begins the 4 part crossover ‘Reckoning' with Wolverine Origins that really brings you into the characters of the story. Great start of a storyline and got an ending that I didn't see coming.  The story continues with Wolverine Origins #47. Can't wait.

SEIGE: SPIDER-MAN

3 OUT OF 5

Not necessary to purchase because you already know that nothing big will happen in this issue that will affect Marvel continuity in the long run. Complete fight issue before the conclusion in Seige #4. Spider-man vs.Venom. Ms. Marvel vs. Venom. Fun however not necessary.

AMAZING SPIDER-MAN #628

4 OUT OF 5

Roger Stern's sequel from the 80's continues as the mystery unfolds with Captain Universe. Great writing, suspense from one of the classic masters followed more classic writers: Mark Waid and Tom Peyer. Art in the first half of the book with Lee Weeks was awesome however the artwork with Tom Nauck seemed a bit cartoonish however forgivable given the writers involved.

BATMAN STREETS OF GOTHAM #11

2 OUT OF 5

Conclusion to the storyline set in issue #8. Just a huge fight scene and no major repercussions to the over Batman mythology and additions. Just felt bored reading through the story.

X-MEN LEGACY #235

4 OUT OF 5

Chapter 4 of the Second Coming storyline running through the X-Men books setting the stage for a new status quo in July. Beautiful artwork from Greg Land – remembering him when he first did Sojourn for the now defunct CrossGen Comics. This issue includes deaths on both sides of the line as the villains are getting smarter and so are the heroes.

The story continues in X-Force #26 the near half-way point to the overall storyline that promises a major death in the X-Universe. Bets on Cable sacrificing himself for Hope thus pushing her out of his shadows and into the forefront of the X-Men.

CHEW #10

5 OUT OF 5

Fell in love with this series within the first issue which is always very creative and fresh. This issue ends the second storyline ‘International Flavor.' Incredible end and looking forward to the next story arc!

JUSTICE LEAGUE OF AMERICA #44

2 OUT OF 5

James Robinson cleverly reintroduces his two new additions to the Justice League from his Cry for Justice mini series: Starman and Congorrilla as well as their powers and capabilities. This story is under the Brightest Day banner however I am at a lost as how does the anti-climatic ending within this issue fit with Blackest Night #8.

THE SPIRIT #1

3 OUT OF 5

The second book from DC's First Wave line is just as intriguing as the first. I don't know much about the character except in the failed Frank Miller's movie however this book is good. Writer Mark Schultz captures the feeling of being within Central City. The back story is by Denny O'Neil and Bill Sienkiewicz. The back-up story art seems like it was sketched by a 5 year-old and the story is more than rushed.

SAVAGE SHE-HULKS #2

3 OUT OF 5

Expanding the background and origins of World War Hulks we are given pieces and clues to the motives and planning of Lyra. Good pacing by story teller Jeff Parker however he still did Hulked Out Zeroes so I have some resentment.

Sorry - Not even bothering to review this issue

REBELS #15

4 OUT OF 5

After the conclusion of the Starro storyline writer Tony Bedard pulls another great issue of REBELS. A space opera comic with action, humor, and adventure. Starro faces judgment, Dox promises to restart Rann's biosphere, and Starfire joins the cast. Since the Vega System has opened up to the Green Lantern's authority expect a cross over soon.

ULTIMATE SPIDER-MAN #9

2 OUT OF 5

Not as strong as Bendis original run on Ultimate Spider-Man. I feel this comic is still establishing its identity.

BLACKEST NIGHT DIRECTOR'S CUT

5 OUT OF 5

Commentary from the creators, writers, and artists for the Blackest Night. A must have for any Green Lantern fan and any aspiring writers and artists who want to enhance their understanding of developing a comic.

SIF #1

2 OUT OF 5

Following the story of Lady Sif as she adjusts to life in a small Midwestern town – a call from help from Beta Ray Bill breaks her depressing spirits and gives her purpose. The story is open and close showing Lady Sif having issues dealing with Loki stealing her physical form and imprisoning her with a dying woman.
