Convert Childrens Room Into A Land Of Fantasies

Decorating a baby boy's room involves lots of excitement. Especially if you're expecting a baby, it's one of the biggest joys associated with it. There are many ideas surrounding you, tons of design books and many ideas to consider. Since you're a parent, chances are you've probably spent many hours fondly imagining what the room might look like. And once your son comes - well, he'll be too young to appreciate the room right then, but he'll love the bright colors. And, when he's bigger, he'll give you warm hugs for making him such a wonderful room. Here are some basic ideas to play around with, for your kid's room decor.

First and foremost, you need to fix upon a theme. What kind of theme would you like? More importantly, what kind of theme do you think your son would like? You are spoilt for choice, with so many different kinds of themes available for a kid's room decor. You could go for a Nature theme. There would be a wall mural on one side of the room, depicting a scene from a forest - a few birds, trees and animals. Buy a bunk-bed, and take this good idea - buy artificial creepers, and have them wind up around the bed post.

Go for furniture in earthy shades of brown and green, ditto for the curtains, wallpapers and drapings. It's a given that the room will look nice, if done up with love and care. Another theme you might try is the Comic Characters theme. Not just boys, all children appreciate cartoons - and you could have wall decals of different cartoon characters. DeeDee and Dexter, Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck, Sylvester and Tweety, Porky Pig, Tom and Jerry - the list is never-ending. Fill the room with cartoon-themed stuffed toys as well - there are lovely ones available in the market.

The theme of Outer Space is something you could try as well - for a unique yet stunning kid's room decor. You could buy a solar system hanging, to dangle right above your baby's crib - not only will this amuse him, but studies have shown that these colors and the movements help the baby's cerebral development. Go for a Planets and Stars - themed wall mural.

Once you decide upon a theme, you need to know how to implement it. There are certain things to keep in mind. Try to involve an older child, and take his/her suggestions regarding colors and artistic interests. You need to reinforce the room's theme and the kid's room decor, so shop for fabric and wallpaper accordingly. You need to decide upon a focal point - the point in the room upon which the theme will be focused most - perhaps the bed, the study-table, or even a particular wall. Be sure to leave space for wardrobes, book-cases and a bulletin board upon which your son can display his artwork, once he's all grown up. So now that you have the basic stuff in your head, you're all set to start decorating!

Who is this comic book character?

I recent started letting my inner nerd out and I was wondering who this Marvel comic book character is. Use the link below to see the one I mean. Also I don't mean Tigra, I've done all the reading on her I need to, I mean the chick with the blue suit, mask and the yellow stripe. Any help would be nice. I know that you may think that I am silly for not knowing this, but I've come to the end of my limited knowledge, so I thank you all for being patient with me.

K thank you, though you really shouldn't get so touchy, I thought that was the name of the book. Like I said, I'm new to this stuff so don't get all ruffled just cause I missed something, it was a question that I needed answered.
Anyway thank you very much, and I really appreciate the time you put in.

That IS MS. Marvel (Carol danvers)

Batman Comic Books Online

Batman Series - an All Time Favorite

There are many movies and TV shows that we can be addicted to, especially when we are a fanatic of a certain character. One of the most outstanding movie series today is "Batman". It was adapted from a fictional comic book, premiered in 1960's and until now it's still majority's all time favorite. Batman is where fantasies do come true and also reflects about people and things around us. There are a number of episodes that people loves to watch over an over again without getting tired.

Batman's secret identity is Bruce Wayne, a usual industrialist. Bruce' family is into real state business called Wayne Enterprise before Gotham City is being attacked by villains. Often times, people seen him as irresponsible, superficial playboy and gets what he wants because of his family's wealth fortune. When he was a boy, Bruce Wayne got a trauma when the physician Dr. Thomas Wayne and his wife Martha was being murdered in front oh his very eyes.He was deeply horrified. That's the main reason why he fight crimes in Gotham City as Batman.

Dressed as a bat, Batman wanted to have a frightening persona in order to protect his true identity and aid him in crime fighting. The suit colors are traditionally blue and gray. And shared a bat motif into his crime fighting equipments namely his bat mobile,bat-computer, bat-scanner, bat-radar, bat-cuffs, bat-drinking water dispenser, bat-camera with polarized bat-filter, bat-shark repellent bat-spray, bat-rope, and the bat cave which is the Batman's secret headquarter.Obviously first named "bats" for his war on crimes.

What makes him different from other superheroes is that he does not possess any special power like the flying skills of superman. What he uses is his intellectual ability, strong physical power notably martial arts, acrobatics, escape tactics, torture techniques, intimidating aura and detective skills to solve crimes and protect Gotham city against villains and prime suspects. But still being human, Batman's attraction to Cat woman is present.Sidekick Robin comes along the way.Batman's most daring foe is the Joker. A clown-figure criminal. And all the story versions of Batman is history and recognized around the world and became a pop culture until now.

Watching Batman movies and TV Series can tickle your mind and imagination especially with those heart pumping scenes. No wonder, kids and adults enjoy this blockbuster hit every time its on the boob tube.

Today via online shopping, Batman movie and TV DVD series collections is just a click away. There are websites who offers quality of CD collections on reasonable prices.

What's going on currently in the batman comic books?

I've heard a lot of stuff about Nightwing becoming batman and what not, but I'm not exactly sure why and what is going on, If you know what is going on please reply, o and if you know a place online where I can read new batman comics for free it would be greatly appreciated.
Much obliged

There's so much shit going on, spread across multiple DC titles that even some readers can't keep up.

Here's a breakdown of stuff I got:
-------------------------------------------------
Batman: Temporarily dead till 2010.
Tim Drake = Red Robin. Out looking for Bruce...somehow...
Dick Grayson = Batman.
Jason Todd = Red Hood. Punisher-style vigilante or confused villain?
Spoiler = Batgirl.
Damien Wayne = Robin.
Joker got a huge makeover & knows who Batman really is but doesn't give a shit.
Harley Quinn is hanging out with Poison Ivy & Catwoman.
Black Mask destroyed Arkham Asylum.
Riddler = Private Investigator & only male member of the Gotham City Sirens. Ivy still doesn't like him.
Black Lanterns in Darkest Knight = awesome zombie invasion.
Dick & Jason hate eachother's guts. Lots & lots of bloodshed.
Black Glove Oraganization & Dr. Hurt. Where are they now?
Hush = Taking full advantage of looking like Bruce Wayne.
Batman's early years are being revamped again in Batman Confidential, & it's awesome.
Kevin Smith of "J & Silent Bob" is writing Batman comics, & they're hillarious.

You can use Ishohunt to find the comics, CDisplay to view them, & bittorent to get them. Also Google for Comic Vine, look up Batman, & then use the "comics by cover" tab as a guide. You can also use DC Comics as a guide for unreleased comics & view previews when they're released.

Bullets, Blood, and Glory: an Expose on the Glorification of Real and Fictional Murderers

Bullets, Blood, and Glory: An Expose On The Glorification of Real and Fictional Murderers

Violence, no matter how much some people try to deny it, is an integral part of our society, and will remain so, for better or for worse. It is used to protect, it is abused through many means, and the media capitalizes it on. However, this is not an essay about protection or the sheer amount of violence in the media, but about the people who make those who kill into Robin Hoods, Anti-Heroes, and people who are to be pitied. From Jack the Ripper in reality to the Boondock Saints and the Punisher in fiction, it had become common to make kills legitimate and body counts testimonies to genius. Let’s have a look:

Jack the Ripper – Dead but not forgotten. Prowling the foggy streets of London for reasons of his own, the most infamous serial killer of all went about killing prostitutes and was never caught. Jack may just be the most intriguing killer of the past 200 years, with numerous books detailing the theories surrounding the methods and the identity of the killer. As a few people have pointed out, however, if he had gotten caught, it is doubtful that so much would be written of him. His identity has been theorized to be a butcher, an American actor, a woman, etc. Somehow he or she managed to elude capture and the killings stopped. Though famous stories abound that he was caught, including a tale told to me that a man being hung for murder said “I’m Jack the…” right before the lever was pulled, it was never conclusively proven that he or she was caught, and their fate remains unknown. Unfortunately, with this curiosity came glory, as the killer was personified as being a highly intelligent killer worthy of admiration for his ability to escape justice. Even during the killings, Jack was noted to be a creature of respect, one who scared children and caused women of the night to fear for their lives, because they never knew if they would be next (spooky, no?).

The Boondock Saints – This movie and its glorification of vigilante justice will probably cause me the most trouble with you readers. These erstwhile Punishers (a character I take on later) are at first two Irish-Catholic brothers who take on the local Russian mob in Boston. The only reason they even start doing this is because they fought a few Russian enforcers in their favorite bar when the mobsters want the bar to shut down. The Russians attempt revenge, the brothers manage to kill them, they hide the money and guns they find on them, and things escalate. They kill X number of people, then the Russians get their best killer out of prison, it turns out to be the boys’ father, and in the end they choose to take on crime as a family. Of course, people will argue that it is much more complicated than that, but I’m not writing a movie review, I’m addressing the glorification of the characters. These brothers seem to justify their crimes (you heard me), by saying a family prayer: “And shepherds we shall be, for thee my Lord for thee, Power hath descended forth from thy hand, that our feet may swiftly carry out thy command, we shall flow a river forth to thee, and teeming with souls shall it ever be. In nomine patris, et filiiet spiritus sancti,” and in one case they place pennies on the eyes of their victims ala Greek mythology (paying the boatman to ferry a soul to Hades). So the lesson seems to be: kill, pray, and do it again. This is actually addressed at the end of the movie in a fake “on the street” type segment where people voice their opinions on the family’s activities, with people both supporting and decrying their actions. I would have been one of the men calling them what they are: murderers.

The Punisher – I could write page after page about this character, because he’s one of my favorite comic book characters as well as one of the most fertile subjects for this topic. I’m going to leave the movies out of this, because the comics are a much deeper part of the character. For those who don’t know about the character, he was originally a hitman in Spider-Man, but afterward he developed into Frank Castle, a Vietnam veteran whose family was killed in the crossfire of a mafia hit. Frank manages to survive, but he grows disenchanted with the justice system when it fails to bring the killers down. He decides that the guilty need to be punished, and thus his new persona is born. He doesn’t capture villains ala Batman, another mainstream character without superpowers, instead choosing to take the route of acting, as the cliché goes, as “judge, jury, and executioner”. He is careful not to hurt those who he thinks of as innocent, for lack of a better word on my part, but is not above torture, manipulation, theft, and fighting dirty. However, the interesting thing about the Punisher is that while is that while he’s sort of a sympathetic character, Punisher MAX (the most realistic version of the Punisher), shows Frank as an unrepentant killer with a body count that goes beyond horrific. That IS what he is, and most of his “hardcore” fans would probably agree. Garth Ennis, an influential Punisher writer, noted that the character is “…well, obsessive, insane, twisted enough to happily mow down forty or fifty people in an afternoon.” Other people who worked on the character thought of him as a person who doesn’t have a complete grip on reality. The point here is that although the character is sometimes shown to be pitiable and (although you can’t blame the character) has inspired people to create groups on the Internet that support his actions (along with the Boondock Saints’). However, the big difference between the two is that the Punisher is shown as being cold-hearted and merciless, while the Saints are portrayed as having an unfathomable sort of happiness in what they do. In the end, although the Punisher is an intriguing character, he shouldn’t be confused with a hero (although he is capable of doing things that are heroic).

What exactly is my point here? I watch violent movies, I play violent videogames, and I write violent stories. However, my point here is that a line needs to be drawn between a murderer and a hero. If a hero kills (as they have in almost all media) it shouldn’t be a full on massacre justified by someone they care about dying or something of the like. If the hero kills, it should devastate him or her, not give them any sort of happiness or fulfillment. A murderer is a murderer, no matter the reasoning behind it. With bullets and blood there does not always come glory, regardless of how glossy the blood is made or the reasoning behind the murders.

Fantastic Phuket

Copyright (c) 2008 Writer fill

Phuket is one of Thailand's most popular destinations, and it's not hard to see why. A beautiful environment that features tropical plant life accompanies the sandy beaches and clear ocean waters. The bustling town means you're never far from food, drink, or a place to stay, and its easy to find some fantastic sights too. Once you've visited this place, you'll want to go back time and again.

Getting to Phuket isn't hard. It can be reached by car or plane. Taxis are available that can take you anywhere you like pretty cheaply. However, the drive from Bangkok to Phuket is about 8 or 9 hours given that it is almost 900 kilometers away. If this seems too much for you then it's possible to take a cheap internal flight to reach Phuket. These regular services allow travel from Bangkok to Phuket in just one and a half hours, much better if you don't want to endure hours and hours of travel in the heat of Thailand.

Whilst Phuket airport is somewhat distant from the beaches and hotels of Phuket it is easy to find a taxi, limousine, or van outside of the airport which will take you to your destination very cheaply. Whilst many top hotels can be found along the beaches, it is also possible to experience homestay if you venture into the community areas of the city. Those who wish to stay in Phuket during the holiday season, or at festival time, are advised to book lodgings early to avoid disappointment however.

Some of the best spots in Phuket include the beautiful Paton, Karon and Kata beaches. With incredible beauty it would be a shame to miss the opportunity to visit one of these fantastic places whilst staying in Phuket. Beach activities are available, and the sea is safe to swim in. If you are feeling adventurous you can rent a surf board, and if you fancy a bit of exploring it is possible to travel from the beach by boat to several nearby islands including Phi Phi and Kai. With fantastic reefs full of a colorful assortment of fish diving is another brilliant experience you can have in this place.

The Thai nightlife is very famous, and Phuket's nightlife is no exception. With an array of fantastic bars, clubs, and restaurants you'll be busy from sunrise to sunset. Spend the day at the beach, then go out as it turns dark to sample some of the world-famous Thai cuisine full of rich flavours and bold spices. Afterwards enjoy a Singha beer or a cocktail at one of the local bars, or hit the clubs for a wild night of partying.

Another fantastic experience waiting for you in Phuket is the most famous sunset-spot in the whole of Thailand - sunset at Laem Prom THep. The sunset here is absolutely incredible, and no trip to Phuket would be truly complete without witnessing it. Finally, Phuket city is home to a number of ancient structures where you can get a taste for the history that runs through the place.

Quick Bathroom Decorating Tips

Need some ideas to spice up your bathroom? Does it look cold and empty like a public school bathroom? Nothing but the toilet sink, walls, mirror, and a few towels? Trust me. That's not impressing anyone or anything.

Often overlooked in decorating, the bathroom is in truth one of the more visited rooms in the house. With people spending an average of 45 min. a day using it, showering, and primping, why should you ever even think about leaving it bare?

There are a few simple things that I've learned throughout my years of being an apartmentite that really help turn a boring bathroom into a rich, resilient restroom.

Pick a Theme- Schultz went with a Superman theme in his bathroom and it actually looks really great. It helped him easily narrow down a color scheme to red and blue with accents of yellow. All of the matching and color picking had already been done for him, he just had to go with something he liked. Superman it was. Combining a blue shower curtain and rugs with red bath towels and a yellow hand towels, this theme can appeal to anyone. Throw up a few framed classic Superman comics and a retro Superman toothbrush if you want to really push the theme and suddenly you have a extremely fun bathroom.

Picking a theme is an easy idea for anyone to incorporate fun and flavor to their water closet. So find something you lilke...be it a sports team, a movie, or anything else...pick it...analyze the colors and go!

Keep It Clean- Always keep your bathroom clean and clutter free. Keep the clutter off the counter. Find a hiding place for your brushes, cologne, make-up, hair products, etc. It looks good to no one to walk in and see piles of make-up on one side of the sink, medicine bottles and hairspray on the other, dirty clothes on the floor, and an over-flowing waste basket. And if you have chosen that to be your theme....you should choose another. Oh..most importantly...keep the toilet sparkling and the TP on the TP holder. What good does the empty cardboard roll do for you or your guests? Don't just leave the new roll on the back of the toilet and wait for a guest to do your work for you. Remember, guests don't just see the living room and kitchen...they also see the bathroom, so keep it clean and clutter free.

Candles, Dispensers, and Other Fine Things- Want something neat on your counters? Try a few candles with cool candle holders. Also, don't just use the disposable soap dispenser. Instead, buy a cool soap dispenser that goes along with your theme and refill the soap as needed. Matching soap dispensers and toothbrush holders always look great. A picture frame with one of your favorite 4x6's could work great on the counter as well. It may be cliche', but a novelty or funny book in the bathroom is always a great idea.

No matter what. Quit forgetting about or putting off the bathroom decoration. When you visit other bathrooms, take notes, see what you like and don't like about them. Then apply that to your own. Have fun and I hope reading this didn't make you ...flushed.

Celebrity Poker Player: Jennifer Tilly

As an actress Jennifer Tilly vamped it up in the movie Liar, Liar, screamed it up as the Bride of Chucky, a wildly successful computer-animated film Monsters Inc., and landed more than a few cameo roles in Marvel comic books and as a voice over character on the Family Guy cartoon series and movie Stuart Little. An Academy Award nominee for Bullets Over Broadway in 1994. And now, a celebrity poker champion!

Jennifer Tilly has made impressive showings in a variety of prominent poker tournaments.

Tilly came to poker through acting: Her role in Let It Ride in 1989 sparked an interest, and shortly after making the film, Tilly began playing regularly at home with friends. In 2003, Tilly, who had already started dating Phil Laak, entered a few tournaments, her boyfriend 's wheedle and her poker fame took off.

Jennifer Tilly has asserted 2 championship bracelets in the year 2005, a World Series Of Poker Women's No Limit Hold'em Tournament outlasting 600 other players and the World Poker Tour Ladies Night III held at the Bicycle Casino in Los Angeles . Only Tilly in the history as a female poker player has accomplished these 2 feats in the same year!

Her playing style is an almost extraordinary aggressive on, taking absolutely any and every opportunity to put her opponents’ to the test by applying continual pressure that makes it difficult for them to proceed. She has been known to play literally any 2 cards from any position, even in spots where some of her equally aggressive contemporaries would dodge. Though criticized in some venues for almost going overboard with the concept, clearly her application has paid off in its own way.

Tilly has since placed in numerous events including World Poker Tournament Season 6, L.A. Poker Classic. She has also appeared on the GSN Poker Royale series, Poker Superstars and Celebrity Poker Showdown. Despite her obvious skill at the game, Tilly continues to be billed as a celebrity player rather than an expert; however that could change given a little more time, opportunity and hands.

Tilly's appearances on the World Poker Tour, Poker After Dark, and other such reputable venues have demonstrated her ability to play.

On the interview in about.com on Jennifer Tilly,

Jennifer Tilly's on Whether She's a Poker Pro:

After winning at the World Series of Poker, Tilly said this to Jay Leno:

"I won two thousand dollars more than Phil Laak and I won a gold bracelet. I’m not rubbing it in…but I think that that makes me a professional poker player, I don’t care what the other poker players say." Jennifer Tilly said.

Jennifer Tilly on Winning the World Poker Tour Ladies Night:

"I felt like I was suffering from the 'impostor syndrome, I had these niggling self-doubts. But now I know I can really play. These women were extremely tough pros with blood lust at the poker table. My goal has always been to win a World Poker Tour event and now I've done it!" said Jennifer Tilly.

With such an energetic character as Phil Laak-her boyfriend and a poker coach Tilly's own superb resume of good work and uniqueness, with 2 poker tournament championships and the poker fever that has seized the globe at an all-time high, it is certain Jennifer Tilly will be delighting fellow players and TV viewers with her poker game for years to come.

Ideas For Making A Book As A School Project

Creating a book as a school project gives students a chance to practice writing, editing, art, and organizational skills.  Producing a book is also an excellent way to generate interest in reading.  It is similar to the effect of having children help you cook.  They are more likely to eat what they have helped to cook.  Children become engaged by the process and interested in the result.  Use any of these ideas to generate motivation for honing reading and writing skills.

Ideas for book projects.  Each idea listed below could be assigned to an individual student.  Some of the ideas also work well for small groups of students.  Encourage students to invent clever, engaging titles to headline their books about one of these suggested topics.

            a. The “Green” Book.  Have students create a book documenting the school’s effort to use less energy, improve the environment, or create a green space.  Alternatively, each student could document similar efforts in their home or town.

            b. The “How To” Book.  Have each student pick something they are interested in doing and write and illustrate a book on the topic.  Everything from stamp collecting, sports, animal care, crafting, carpentry, car care, and so on is fair game.

            c. The “Grandpa” Book.  Have students interview their grandparents or folks in a senior center about their life as a teenager.  You may wish to provide a list of questions, but have your students generate at least 10 or so questions of their own.  The book should include a short background of the person interviewed, three to five memories of what it was like to be a teenager when they grew up, and any wisdom they felt they learned along the way.

            d. The “Poetry Collection” Book.  Have each student contribute a poem and an illustration for the book.  You can set a theme for the poetry or let students write about what is on their minds.  The illustrations could be hand-drawn, painted, computer graphics, collages, or photographs.

            e. The “Comic” Book.  Have students create a six-part series of four-box comic strips like the ones that run in the daily papers.  Each series should tell a complete story.  Illustrations can be hand- or computer-drawn.

            f. The “You Name It Cookbook”.  Have your students collect recipes of their favorite dishes.  Several different approaches might be used – recipes from different ethnic backgrounds of the student population, teachers' recipes, favorite potluck recipes from the students' families, best dessert recipes, favorite tailgate recipes for the high school football games, and so on.  Recipe accuracy can be tested in the home economics kitchen, if available.

            g. The “Nature” Book.  If part of the curriculum is exploring the natural world, have students take photographs of the flora or fauna involved and write up short fact sheet presentations about it.  The write-up might include: common name, scientific name, where it is found, how big it grows, interesting details about the plant or animal.  A trip to a zoo might be helpful for studying exotic animals or a botanical garden is a good choice if plants are the subject.

            h. The “Why Photo” Book.  Take twenty pictures and explain why each photograph was selected.

The resulting books can be hand-bound.  For “how-to” information, check out my article titled “Book Binding by Hand”.  Alternatively, the book can be sent to a commercial printer and be professionally bound.  Some printers offer special printing programs for students.  One example is the “Aspiring Authors” program by lulu.com.  In either case, your students will have a lasting keepsake of a fun, perhaps even zany, project where they let their creative juices flow.  And they were learning all the time – who could ask for more than that?
