Modern d20 Game Setting: Urban Arcana/Fantastic?
I'm working on a roleplaying campaign using d20 modern but with a hint of urban arcana. Can anyone suggest some resources (comic books, paperback books, movies, etc) to help me flesh out ideas about such a world? I'm having the PCs start as 17- to 18-year olds with the commonality of a social group. The campaign content should be high on roleplaying and low on dice rolls as the players are all very experienced and talented roleplayers. The campaign itself is centered in Wichita, KS.
Depending on how big of a "hint" of Urban Arcana, you could go with an X-Files or H.P. Lovecraft approach to the game. Movies like Lost Boys and Big Trouble in Little China are great examples of ordinary worlds where strange things lie just beneath the surface.
BTW, I like the idea of starting the group off as teens. I was thinking of doing the same thing if I can convince my DnD group to switch to d20 Modern for a while. But that is mostly because I think kids are less likely to mess with guns and stuff like that, which I think is incredibly hard to roleplay realistically. (i.e., "ooo, Mr. Bad Guy rolled a 20 on his attack roll with the uzi... Let's see, yup, you're all dead now. Let's reroll again!")
The final battle for Middle-earth begins. Frodo and Sam led by Gollum continue their dangerous mission toward the fires of Mount Doom in order to destroy the One Ring. When we were kids, most of us have at least one or two favorite cartoon or comic book character. We liked these cartoon characters so much that our pencil cases, bags, lunch boxes, and shirts are printed with their images. Because we see these cartoon characters almost everyday, we can tell if there is something different about the way our favorite characters look. Their change in poses and costumes can be easily detected by an observant kid's mind. With the many cartoon characters introduced since the invention of the comic book, can we remember if any of our favorite cartoon characters wore a watch?
Probably, most of us cannot recall a time when our favorite cartoon characters have worn a watch. Why would they anyway? Most of the cartoon characters are animated animals and although these animals can speak and interact with one another, there isn't much need for them to wear a watch. Watches are not as important to the animal kingdom as they are to ours. However, let us take a look at how our favorite cartoon characters would have chosen a watch if given a chance to wear one.
1. Spongebob
The energetic character of Spongebob Squarepants would have chosen the Flik Flak "Dirty Jumps" as his watch. This watch comes in yellow, which certainly matches Spongebob's color and optimistic personality. The happy-go-lucky yet naïve Spongebob will also enjoy the added features of the watch. The Flik Flak "Dirty Jumps" is shock and water- resistant, and machine washable. This is perfect for someone like Spongebob who is inquisitive, curious, and adventurous.
2. Betty Boop
The sexy Betty Boop will need a watch to reflect her appeal. The Citizen Silhouette ladies' watch will match Betty Boop's fitted dresses, high heels, and garter belt. The watch also has a crystal-encrusted bracelet and a mother of pearl face that makes it very stylish for a woman as classy and sexy as Betty Boop.
3. Bubbles of Powerpuff Girls
This innocent Powerpuff Girl, with her blue signature color, will find a match in the blue Flik Flak "Fior di Farfalla." Bubbles' bubbly, naïve, playful, cute, and gentle personality is also reflected in the strap that has flower and butterfly designs.
4. Angelica Pickles of the Rugrats
This bully needs a watch with an attitude. The Flik Flak "Pink Flak" is the choice for girls who would like to the envy of other girls. This watch will be a sign of Angelica's affluent upbringing that has led her to bullying other babies. The color also matches her expensive and colorful outfits.
5. Spiderman (Peter Parker)
Spiderman is one of the most favorite cartoon characters and superheroes of all time. A superhero needs a watch that can make his task of rescuing people a lot easier. The Casio "G Shock" G1000-1A is perfect for men like Peter Parker who tackle a lot of things during the day. As a photographer, he always has to be on the go to catch the perfect and rare shot. As Spiderman, he should have a durable watch that can resist up to a hundred meters of water. Its alarm clock will help him stay on schedule and the G Shock's luminous hands will help him see the time even while in the dark.
6. George of the Jungle
For someone who lives in the jungle, watches aren't very useful. But if George really needs something for telling the time, the M.H. Bertucci B-1T Titanium is a good choice. He needs a watch that is durable enough to withstand jungle activities. The M.H. Bertucci is also shock and water-resistant, which makes it great for adventurous George.

anime vs. comics all out war?
who would win. dragonballz&naruto vs. DC&Marvel. Who do you think will be the winner in an all out brawl match. In my vote i say the anime team, but i realy dont know because there are a lot more comic book characters then the single z-warriors and leaf village. What are your thoughts
I would pick comics. There's plenty of power in Marvel and DC to handle the likes of Neruto and Dragonball z. Marvel has world devourers of its own, as well as many who know ninjitsu And have healing factors and character by the name of Taskmaster who has photographic reflexes so he gets infinitely better the more he fights. The Naruto chumps don't deserve to be included. As for the dragonball z characters, They have a note worthy level of power, but don't give them to much credit. The entire concept of Goku was to give anime an equivelent to Superman. Let's imagine they cancel each other out (which is more than fair to Goku). Marvel has a character by the name of Gladiator with the exact same power set as Superman, except he has had millitary training and much more fighting experience, so now there is an even more dominant force without an answer from anime. And then you have to include Lobo, Doomsday, the Hulk, the Silver Surfer, Juggernaught, Apocalypse, Darkseid, Onslaught, Thanos, Imperiex, Thor, and many, many others. This woulden't even be a close fight. Comics all the way.

Is there a good program to catalogue my comics with?
Besides the obvious like Excel or Access, unless someone has a good inbuilt template. I have one myself but wondering if there is anything more sophisticated, maybe even with links to the comic book? Maybe from DC or Marvel?
I just use comicbookdb.com. Tim Sale uses it to list his work on his own website.
Apple announced it sold 300,000 iPads on the first day it was available, so the device is off to a good start. But as I've said before, I think we need to see how people are really using the iPad after they've had it for a couple of months before we'll know whether this is really a game-changer or just a fun gadget.
My iPad arrived mid-morning on Saturday, and despite the beautiful weekend, I was able to spend some time with it. So far, I've found a few annoyances, but in general, my experiences have been quite positive.
As usual, with most Apple devices, the iPad just looks great. After I got it set up, I immediately found myself fighting my family for time on the device. The metal case and the tapered sides make it look thinner and lighter than it actually is. The brushed aluminum case felt a bit slippery, but in general the iPad handled well. At 1.5 pounds, it's notably heavier than a newspaper, magazine, or Kindle, but I don't think that's going to be a real barrier to people using it.
Setup was straightforward. The iPad works with iTunes, just like an iPod or iPhone, and you select the applications, music, videos, and photos you want to transfer within iTunes. However, to get your iPad to work, you need to download and install iTunes 9.1, and for some reason, that version took about 40 minutes to process my iTunes library.
So far, I've mostly used the device to try out a few of the media applications. I've found a lot to like about applications from the Wall Street Journal, New York Times, USA Today, Marvel Comics, ABC and others. In general, I have been pretty impressed by the creativity theses applications have shown, and expect we'll see more in the future. (See my take here.) I'm still not convinced that many people will pay for these applications if the same content is available for free on Web sites, but there is something to be said for the fact that you now can take the information with you offline.
I found the iPad generally quite easy to read. In normal lighting at home and in the shade outdoors, it looked pretty good. Like most LCD screens, it doesn't work in bright sunlight, and I found the reflections on the screen a bit annoying when trying to read newspaper applications on the train. So far I'm generally happy with the LCD display, though I haven't really tried reading books for any length of time yet. (The book I wanted to read this week isn't out in electronic form.)
I have tried both Exchange and Web mail on the device, and the new UI for the mail client is pretty interesting. When you hold the screen horizontally, you see a list of messages on the left and the actually message (with HTML formatting) on the right. When you hold it vertically, you see one message at a time, but you can tap on a button to see a scrolling list of all your messages, or a list of all of your folders.
My Yahoo mail account seemed to work pretty well offline, but the Exchange mail really needed a connection (as it does on the iPhone). I like the way that the iPad indexes mail messages and contacts along with files from the main search screen. In general, I've been pretty happy with the iPhone mail client. I find it does more than the mail client on the Motorola Droid, for example; though Mac and Windows mail clients have lots of capabilities.
The Safari Web browser works the same on the iPad as it does on the iPhone, with all the same pros and cons, except, of course, you can see a lot more of the page on the larger screen. And that does make a huge difference. A laptop will typically have at least as big a screen as an iPad, naturally, and will support Flash and Silverlight--and that's a big deal, at least right now.
For instance, in email this weekend, I had several messages with links to YouTube videos or sites with music, and they just didn't work on the iPad. (One of these was a link to the OK Go "This Too Shall Pass" Rube Goldberg-type video, which has over 10 million views, but clicking on it on the iPad just gets you a "could not load video" box. You can find a similar version using the YouTube application, but it's not the same.)
The iPad doesn't have nearly the battery life of an e-reader, owing in part to the LCD display. But it wasn't bad. I got about 8 hours before I saw the "battery low" message, which is a bit less than what Apple claims and notable worse that many of the first reviews. My guess is that a weak Wi-Fi signal draws more power from the battery than a strong one.
Sitting on a couch using the iPad for Web surfing e-mail was a pleasant experience. The machine is relatively light and seems snappy. But did I miss features I have on my laptop? Absolutely.
The lack of a physical keyboard is obvious. The onscreen keyboard isn't bad; it's perfectly fine for responding to e-mail messages, but I wouldn't have wanted to type this review on screen. Tim Gideon of PC Magazine wrote his review that way, but it's not for me. If we all were using onscreen keyboards only, a physical keyboard would seem like a huge advance.
Multitasking is another obvious issue. You can play music from iTunes while running other applications, but not from Pandora or Rhapsody.
On the other hand, it is very easy to pick the iPad up and just use it without thinking about booting (assuming it's charged), and I didn't find myself really minding the absent keyboard, multitasking, or Flash all that often. I'm going to have to give this a try for a bit longer and see how often I end up reaching for the iPad and how often I'm going back to my laptop.
I've used other tablets before, and the iPad clearly offers a better consumer experience than what has gone before. But I think the jury is still out as to whether it will move from being a fun gadget for early adopters to a really useful addition to the technology that most people use.

I have made a discovery (or it can be called a doubt) about 'The Amazing Spiderman' relating to web shooter.?
I know that in amazing spiderman comics spiderman bends his middle and ring finger to shoot the web from his web shooter (although in the early day comics he only bended his middle finger). While punching crooks he has to clench his fist like anyone does while punching. So the web shooter has to go off while he punches since his fingers are bended and they are sure to touch the switch to shoot the web. The answer which explains why this is not happening will be chosen as the best answer. Also, How does spiderman shoot his web without his web shooter in the movies?
his web-shooter is acfivated by the pressure/tension in his wrist (the bending of his finger/2 fingers is just to add additional pressure when he flexes his wrist.) note that he bends his fingers forward - toward the palm of his hand, but he bends his wrist backward.
when he punches the bad guys, he is folding all his fingers inward, but there is no backward positioning of his wrist, therefore no web-shooting.
in the movies, they just glossed-over that aspect of his costume and super-hero abilities. don't forget, he gained a kind of super-(spider)-intelligence as a result of that initial irradiated spider bite. in the story/comic, that is an important part of understanding spiderman's powers.
hope that explained it for you.
p.s. instead of 'bended,' you probably mean and should use the word 'bent.' (just fyi)

Inuyasha: The Final Act (Episode 17, Magatsuhi’S Evil Will)
Inuyasha: The Final Act (Episode 17, Magatsuhi’s Evil Will)
After losing Meido Zangatsuha to Inuyasha, and getting a supposed “useless” sword, Tenseiga, news has been spread that Sesshomaru is weak. Demons of all kinds have been challenging Sesshomaru. The demons want to kill Sesshomaru and capture Kohaku for his Shinko Jewel. However, these demons do not stand a chance against Sesshomaru, and their path is cleared instantly.
Inuyasha and gang go back to the village where Kikyo and her sister lived. Inuyasha confides to Kikyo’s sister about Kagome’s powers being sealed, and asks whether it was the doing of Kikyo. Kikyo’s sister rejects the proclamation and says that it cannot be the doing of her sister, and that she has left Kagome with everything that she had. However, she believes that it might be another cause, closer at hand. The Shinko jewel has a good side known as, Naohi and an evil side known as, Magatsuhi. Kikyo’s sister believes that, the Shinko jewel must be at work as its evil side knows the power of Kagome.
Byakuya of dreams arrives back at Naraku’s hideout and sees Naraku speaking to the jewel. After their chat, the Shinko jewel releases a dark aura which runs through Naraku and takes part of him with it. What is happening here? Is it Magatsuhi at work?
With its borrowed body, Magatsuhi arrives to meet with Sesshomaru. Its arrival sends a troubled sense of evil to Inuyahsa and the gang. And the gang rushes to the scene of Sesshomaru and Magatsuhi. Magatsuhi has already begun its fight against Sesshomaru, and proclaims that Sesshomaru is a weakling. Having his pride being attacked, Sesshomaru transforms and uses his full demon power against Magatsuhi. Even in his real-demonic form, Sesshomaru was soon defeated by Magatsuhi and is being wrapped around by him. Inuyahsa is unable to launch an attack on to him as well.
Sesshomaru is soon over-powered by Magatsuhi, and then he reverts back into his human form and escapes Magatsuhi’s clutches. The gang then attempts to resist Magatsuhi, but the attempts were rather futile. Soon Sesshomaru senses something different, and uses his Tenseiga to attack an area near Magatsuhi, and was able to harm Magatsuhi’s real form. This further angered Magatsuhi and he pierces through Sesshomaru, and rendering him near death. Magatsuhi then wants to devour Sesshomaru, and Inuyahsa tries to free him, but Magatsuhi recovers quickly, making his attempts futile.
Totosai at his home works on his sword with great concentration. However, his swords start to be disturbed and awaken by a force unknown. Totosai then mumbles to himself “It is time already?” And he packs his belonging and travels away.
What seems to be the end of Sesshomaru was soon greeted by a powerful force. Within Magatsuhi, lights flashed and forced its way out of its capture, and soon Sesshomaru was seen with yellowish-green flashes of lightning on what used to be his lost left arm. Totosai arrives at the scene and Sesshomaru figures out what the new sensation of his is. He swings and defeats Magatsuhi with one blow. Magatsuhi tries to regenerate and gather back parts of his body, but the attempt only caused destruction to all of the body parts and when in contact with each other, the body further corrodes, rendering it useless. This is the power of Sesshomaru’s new sword Bakusaiga, and along with it is Sesshomaru’s new left arm. Now Sesshomaru is free of his attachments with his father’s heirloom and has created his own new sword, which was always within him.

Sorry if category is wrong or something, but I didn't notice any ufo-related or alien-related category. Let's get started, then.
Obviously dragons are not exist on Earth and that is true. But what if dragons are really an highly advanced alien civilization? Let see what I got.
Daniken's theories
If you don't know who Daniken is, you should read his books, especially Memories from the future (sorry if I misspelled title, but I only read books in original language, so I have only German version), because in most cases we will refer to this book. But if you actually know Daniken I will remind you some facts about his life. Daniken is expert in plaeoastronautic, semiscience what claims that alien civilizations visit Earth before. And this should be enough for now.
In Memories from future he explains his theories very well, so you really need to read this book. I read it sometime ago, so I could not remmember everything, but I try to be as reliable as possible. In many places of his work he write about dragon-shaped reliefs with something that can be an astronaut's suit. And that reliefs are in many cultures that never ever met eachother until discover of America continent.
Additionally dragons are in most cultures in the world. Maybe dragons are from another solar system or even galaxy?
Is they so called alien Reptilians?
Let stop for a moment. Now you thinking "Jack lost his mind and trying to convince us to his crazy/insane/whatever theories". That's ok. This is normal feeling about that sort of thing. But if you travelled back to XIX century and tell anyone about nuclear weapons, Internet or even cellphones does he/she belive you? Or maybe they will put you in psychiatric hospital?
Anyway get back to the topic. You maybe ask yourself the question: are they so called evil Reptilian thing? Most certain not. Dragons are not evil and they live far, far away from reptillians homeworld. They helps humanity for the centuries, since we had enough intelligence to make stone tools.
How I know that? I work for them. Many hunderds of years they were forced to leave our planet, because catholic church announced that there are evil tools of satan. Dragons survived in the China, because there they were considered as friendly entites, who helps everyone who want they help and who have good intentions. But finally they must leave China too.
Where they are?
On their homeworld. They observe us altrough, via invisible sttelites on our orbit. They try to make contact as much painless as possible. Many humans are working for them, they try prepare other people, convince them that dragons are not I-will-eat-you-and-then-take-care-of-your-family beasts, they are rather good creatures who want help us. Many of them are creating novels, comics and other things like this, others, like me, are telling truth. Of course there are also people who don't know the truth and creating stories about friendly dragons, bercause they just like dragons. They are called unconscious helpers. Dragons also developed technology what is using to making dragons look like humans. With it the dragons are actually on Earth. There looking like us.
Are they dangerous?
No, they are not. With their technology they could destroy our nice planet a long time ago (or turns humans into slaves). Definitely they not need slaves, and they don't want destroy Earth.

Movies where guy rescues girl, get revenge, protects his love, etc?
I am looking for fairly recent movies that have an action romance type feel and have scenes where the guy is protecting the girl, she gets hurt, he feels sad, wants revenge, etc...
Or guy saves rescues girl(wife girlfriend) that is hurt. I want to see emotion and guilt and love.
I like If only and Three Days but not enough action. There are good scenes in Lethal Weapon 3 and nothing along the comic book themes please. It should feel real.
The marine and 12 rounds fall under what I am looking for also... So more along the lines of these movies.

Spiderman comics have always been on high demand because they are not only bought by children but also by adults who probably read them when they were kids as well. Spiderman comics are a Marvel Comic original that made its debut in 1962 and was written and created by Stan lee and Steve Dikto.
In his first appearance in Marvel Comics Spiderman made his debut in a guest appearance spot, but would later have his own comic line. The Spiderman character real name is Peter Parker a quite and unsure fellow, who after he is bitten by a spider which had been used for experiments, which means basically the spider had been given different gene’s that made it stronger, faster and could sense danger when it was near and this what transferred into the young Peter Parker and transformed him to his alter ego the wise cracking, web sling Spiderman.
Spiderman comics became a big hit with the kids as well as with adults and this spun into two cartoons. One cartoon was about Spidey on his own and the other was him and iceman and was called the double duo, which actually was also a comic book. The cartoons then lead to a Spiderman movie which would later be remade in early 2000 into the Spiderman movies which we have come to love. Spiderman also shares the scene with other characters like Mary Jane Watson who is Peter Parkers love interest, then there his Aunt and off course the bad guys like the green goblin and Dr. Doom as well as Doc Octopus. The suit of Spiderman has always been red and blue but there was a time the suit changed to black in 1984 when an alien material or matter attached itself to Spiderman’s suit.
