i am making a graphic novel with my friends and we need someone's opinion on it?
Plot of novel /comic book.
9 individuals with extradordinary powers come to together and form a team to bring gangs and other criminals to justice after being frustrated that many criminals rule the streets and nobody is doing anything about it. They are misunderstood by civilians and police as being a menace or vigilantes. Few see them as heroes. They uncover a conspiracy plot that an organization is planning on taking control of the city where they live no matter what it takes, even kidnapping and murder. Now its up to them to stop it.
doesnt it kinda sound like death note
light got a special power to kill ppl (criminals...) to bring justice so he thought... but sum ppl like police n L thinks he is just a murderer...
i agree with the first dude...
The Warriors combines pure pulp storytelling and surprisingly poetic images into a thoroughly enjoyable cult classic. The plot is mythically pure (and inspired by a legendary bit of Greek history): When a charismatic gang leader is shot at a conclave in the Bronx meant to unite all the gangs in New York City, a troupe from Coney Island called the Warriors get blamed and have to fight all the way back to their own turf--which means an escalating series of battles with colorful and improbable gangs like the Baseball Furies, who wear baseball uniforms and KISS-inspired face make-up...

The achievement of Vice City (which, as everyone knows by now, is set in the 1980s and offers an all-new, Miami Vice-inspired story) is not only that it manages to live up to an absurd level of expectation, but that it takes the game places that fans of its predecessor Grand Theft Auto 3 never dreamed of, and that it achieves this astonishing level of innovation without losing anything that made GTA3 the bestselling PS2 game of all time...

My friend wore a halloween costume as a comic book character and won't tell me who it was. Kinda driving me nuts. I don't believe it's flash because the costume is different. There's a "water pollution" symbol in the front (I don't think that's what it stands for, just providing a description!)

How much would a collection of vintage comic books (about 400 issues) that are in fair condition be worth?
Mostly Archie, Donald Duck, Bugs Bunny & Casper type comics. Not many of Superhero genre. Dating from late 50's through late 60's. Stored in a hot, dry attic and a lot are flaking on the edges. Owner wants $250 for all. Is this a good deal? What would be a reasonable price?
get a comic pricing book from the book store (in the hobbies section). It really depends on the comic and the issue. Some issues are worth more than others.

"With great power comes great responsibility."- Ben Parker(Spidey's uncle)
"Shazam"- the magic word used by Billy Batson to change into Captain Marvel
"It's clobberin' time!" - said by Ben Grimm(Thing of the Fantastic Four) as his battle cry,of a sort.
"Flame On!" - Johnny Storm(Human Torch of the Fantastic Four) everytime he turns on his flame ability.
"In brightest day, in blackest night,
No evil shall escape my sight
Let those who worship evil's might,
Beware my power... Green Lantern's light!" Every Green Lantern,it's their oath.
"Hulk Smash!" "Bah! Puny Humans!" - Hulk.
"SPOON!"- The Tick's battle cry.
Not as many characters as you may think have what would amount to a "catch phrase".

What's the point of collecting CURRENT comic books?
What's the reason for collecting CURRENT comics? Not old issues of Spiderman from the 70's... but stuff like Captain America #616.
I mean... you pay $3-5 for them, read them in 10 minutes, and then what...? Bag & board them and that's it? $3-5 for 10 minutes of entertainment? I can buy a Sci-Fi novel for $3-5 and get 1,000+ minutes of entertainment. I fail to see the cost/entertainment value with these things.
Let's say I read.... 50 novels that year. These are relatively thick tomes (700+ pages), so I'd say I probably spent 60,000 MINUTES reading all of them. That's pretty average. 20 hours per book when I take my time. I probably spent... $250 on the books. Assuming I bought them new.
So, that's $250 for an 60,000 minutes of entertainment.
Let's take comics. You read them in 10 minutes, and you probably paid about $4 for them. Okay, 60,000/10 = 6,000 comic books x $4 = $24,000
Oh... so I'd have to spend $24,000 to equal my $250 of entertainment.
Interesting...
maybe because some day THOSE current comic books will be WORTH something?
or just cuz they like comic books

For devoted fans and nonfans alike, Spider-Man offers nothing less--and nothing more--than what you'd expect from a superhero blockbuster. Having proven his comic-book savvy with the original Darkman, director Sam Raimi brings ample energy and enthusiasm to Spidey's origin story, nicely establishing high-school nebbish Peter Parker (Tobey Maguire) as a brainy outcast who reacts with appropriate euphoria--and well-tempered maturity--when a "super-spider" bite transforms him into the amazingly agile, web-shooting Spider-Man...

As a writer, I find that I sometimes get "creative bursts," where too many ideas for stories and novels pop into my head for me to concentrate on just one. Currently, I'm working on four novels, two short stories, a second draft of a movie script and a comic book script! It's hard for me to decide where to focus my creative energies. I often find that I work best when I do all six or seven projects at once, then look back at them when they're finished and start editing. Does anyone else have these "writing bursts?"
Yes, absolutely. For me it seems to occur when I come out of a block. Nothing, nothing, nothing then BAM!, six ideas at once. It drove me absolutely bonkers for a while. Like you, I would work on several ideas at once, then I would edit the project at completion. I too seem to work best, not limiting my energies to one project. However, I began to notice that I was doing a great deal of editing. After several projects, I began using a digital recorder. I would limit myself to two or three works at a time, recording notes on others as they came to me. Once one project was completed or if I ran into a block I would begin one of the others. The reduction of scattered ideas lead to less editing and better quality of works. Currently, I am working on a story line for a video game, a sci-fi fantasy novel and lyrics for our "debut" (keep your fingers crossed) album. I play guitar as well. Wished I could sing. Good luck with your projects.
