One Piece is one of the most popular ongoing Japanese Animated series (also known as anime). The Manga (Japanese comic book) was written and illustrated by Eiichiro Oda (a friend of Akira Toriyama - creator of the Dragonball series) and is currently the longest ongoing Manga and Anime series out their. The One Piece Anime series was published by Toei Animation and Premiered in Japan on Fuji Television on October 20, 1999 becoming an instant success and later coming dubbed (English voice over) too the US and United Kingdom, where the series also became a huge hit. One piece is heavily influenced by Akira Toriyama's Dragonball Manga and is reflected in the series by the unique and bizarre characters and the powers the characters possess.
The Series follows the adventures of Monkey D Luffy, a 17 year old boy with great powers, gained through eating the devils fruit. (Luffy ate the Gum Gum Fruit one of the rare cursed fruits found across the Grand Line) Luffy's Greatest Ambition is too find the world's ultimate treasure "One Piece" and become the next Pirate King! With the help of his crew (Nakama as spoken in the Japanese subbed version). They travel across the Grand Line.
The Straw Hat crew currently consists of 9 Crew members, all are highly skilled and serve an important role on the ship.
Monkey D Luffy is the current Captain of the ship and has his ambitions and goals set to find One Piece and become the next Pirate King.
