Marvel Comics is an American comic book company owned by Marvel Publishing, Inc., a division of Marvel Entertainment, Inc.
Marvel counts among its characters such well-known properties as Spider-Man, the X-Men and their member Wolverine, the Fantastic Four, in the Heroes Reborn universe, in which Marvel defectors Jim Lee and Rob Liefeld were given permission to revamp the properties from scratch. After an initial sales bump, sales quickly declined below expected levels, and Marvel discontinued the experiment after a one-year run; the characters returned to the Marvel Universe proper. In 1998, the company launched the imprint Marvel Knights, taking place within Marvel continuity; helmed by soon-to-become editor-in-chief Joe Quesada, and featuring tough, gritty stories showcasing such characters as G.I. Joe, The Transformers, Jim Henson's Muppet Babies, and such TV series as Dungeons & Dragons, as well as cartoons based on Marvel Comics
Marvel characters have been adapted into films including the Blade, Spider-Man, and X-Men trilogies; the Fantastic Four, Hulk, and The Punisher duologies; Daredevil, Elektra, Ghost Rider, Iron Man, and Man-Thing.
Additionally, a series of chief editors, though the titles were used intermittently. Confusing matters further, some appear to have been appointed merely by extending their existing editorial duties. By the time Jim Shooter took the post in 1978, the position of editor-in-chief was clearly defined.,
In 1994, Marvel briefly abolished the position, replacing Tom DeFalco with five "group editors", though each held the title "editor-in-chief" and had some editors underneath them. It reinstated the overall editor-in-chief position later in the year, installing Bob Harras. Joe Quesada became editor-in-chief in 2000.

21 May 2008 at 6:10pm Ironman: Legacy of Doom #2shazaptv 1 min - May 21, 2008This fluff piece continues in its overly obviouse soft story telling that isn't good for much unless you're having trouble falling to sleep. As Iron Man battles his way out of hell he is confronted by the standard evil father figure hollering insults and insecurities at our hero when to his demise the monster goes one step too far and insults Tony's mother enraging our hero to victory. One interesting aspect about this story is if you are into the King Arthur mythos then the involvement of Morgana and Doom fusing his armor with Excalibur is a pretty cool concept. This series is definitely for the kids so if you've got a younger sibling or cousin that liked the movie and wants to get into the books this series is a good start. Read more...

16 Nov 2007 at 11:20pm The X-men Livemimicboy 3 min - Nov 17, 2007[note: vid made by SyrinxFlute, but mimicboy so kindly uploaded it for me because it would NOT upload on my account. Big, big thanks to him! ?] The philosophy in this is thar, in spite of hatred, extremism, intolerance, etc, one thing is all-important - love. We can embrace each other's differences regardless of religion, race, sexuality, culture. We can respect each other and care for each other, even in spite of tragedy. I picked the X-men because they know the anguish of prejudice and discrimination, fight it, and love in spite of it. The "God" in the last frame is meant to be accessible to religious and nonreligious folk. It is supposed to refer to whatever you hold in highest esteem, whether it's a deity, a belief system, an ideal, anything. Song: We Live Artist: Superchick Comic: X-men (c) Marvel Entertainment Disclaimer: I don't own the song "We Live" - that belongs to Superchick and its producer. I don't own the X-men or the pictures in this clip either - those belong to Marvel Entertainment and the various artists. Rather Nightcrawler-centric again because, hey, Xavier even said it himself... "no one better embodies the spirit the X-men seek to inspire in all mutantkind." - Excalibur #80 Read more...
